    Cold Weather Barrel

I use an old style All American for my 'Mag which I believe has a bore size of .689 (Correct me if I'm wrong on that please). I shoot Big Ball and PMI Premiums 95% of the time. Usually, it's a good fit which leads to great precision.

The problem comes in the winter, yeah...right about now. The balls roll down my SP AA due to the fact that they shrink in cold weather.

I would buy a freak, but I don't need that many inserts being that I shoot the same paint all the time, plus I lack the appropriate funding right now. I thought about just getting a front, back, and the inserts that I need, but I don't know which inserts those would be.

Right now, I'm probably going to get a Lapco Autospirit which is .687. My question is, do you think that's enough of a drop in ID to cover the cold weather shrinkage???

    Thanks,
    Nathan

try the equation. Better than the freak, and the inserts are made out of like stainless steel and are thicker. They wont bend or break, a common problem with the freak. The dont even sell as a kit anyway, just order the bore size of your AA and then the bore size down and the bore size up (for hot days). The barrel is not only better than the freak, it looks dead sexy. Its more like a four peice. It uses a back, insert, front, and muzzle wich actually works to pull the next shot out or something. Personally im getting an all blue scope 10" unported with a sniper style muzzle =D Looks tite, performs better.

now this is a good question..... i like that...

your on the right track.... myself i would look for a .685 barrel also...

myself i have had good luck with the j&J ceramics... they tend to be a sm-med bore(dont have the excat size) and have used mine year round shooting mostly pmi prem. w/o a problem....

you could also look into the cp line... i think from the factory they are about $55 + shipping and i belive they offer different sizes along with color choices...

now the freak... dont really count that out all together... you can buy a freak with 1 insert and the also p/u just the other sizes you want... not the most cost effective way but it will work.....

Those are some nice looking barrels, Jaymz. I'll definitely consider it. Virus, all the CP barrels I've seen are .689, but I haven't checked their own website, just web stores. Thanks, I'll check into all of the given info.

          Thanks,

            Other Opinions???

Anyone else have opinions to complete the bore size puzzle given .689 SP AA works well most of the time?

            Hot Play = ???
            Standard Play = .689
            Cold Play = ???

            Thanks,
            Nathan

Or you could buy Winter fill paint...probly cheaper than a new barrel system

Old Style SP AA is HUGE!!!

OK, I checked my old style Smart Parts All American barrel with some calipers and the readings came out to be around .692. At first, I didn't believe it, so I had George, maker of Bandit Bolts (Great Bolts, check them out at www.banditbolts.com), measure it for me. He's got experience with using such tools, so I thought he'd give me a better reading.

The readings kept coming out between .6933 to .6937!!! That's huge!!! No wonder, I'm not getting the best precision or air efficiency. We also measured a SP Teardrop...same size! To make sure, we also measured a CP marked .689 and it was within .0004 every measurement.

I just thought I'd let everyone know. I think I'll start with a Lapco Bigshot to cover the .689, then if I still need something smaller, I'll go from there...probably an Autospirit or .685 CP.

                  Thanks,
                  Nathan

Oh, if someone could do this to a new style All American, it would be greatly appreciated. I love All Americans, although am not too fond of two piece barrels. I just want to see if they've brought the bore size down.
