    The Z-body??

I have just reentered the market for paintball, as I am now in college and have a small amount of money saved up. I want to build my own paintball marker, and this automag z-body looks interesting.

I was wondering a couple of things... First of all, is the z-body a decent investment, does it come close to living up to what it claims to do??

Also, since I may be purchasing the Z-body, I was wondering if it was possible to save money by buying automag parts separately (Like the valve, a grip frame, and anything else that is required to make the marker work). I figured I could save money this way by buying what I want than just buying the basic 'mag and then just letting the body it comes with gather dust.

If this is possible, where could I find the individual parts to buy???

    Thanks everyone...

Im pretty sure you can get all the parts you need a www.airgun.com You might be able to save money by building it from scratch. It would definitly be something to brag about. Goodluck.
It came to a point in my life when it was either pay the rent or buy paintball gear. I think I made the wise choice. If anyoneone needs me I'm livin in a van down by the river.

I looked on the AGD site, and it looked like all I could by were only certain parts of the valve, and not the entire valve assmebly.

Does anyone know if I could contact them and ask easily, because it says on their site that they are backed up with emails and currently aren't accepting anymore.

Or, if anyone has upgraded their valve and is willing to part with their old one, I am also willing to buy from them.

      Thank you,

With the Z-body you won't need the rail.

Check the forsale forum. Many of the parts you need can be picked up for much less than new. It will make your project mag very affordable.

          Good luck.

The Z body still needs the rail. The Micromag body doesn't, but the Z body does.

I was originally told it didn't require a rail, but I stand corrected. After being corrected and following up with some investigating, it does indeed need a rail.

i built my mag from scratch everything can be bought separately and it's saves money by doing this since you don't have to buy the stock stuff in the first place.

I did exactly what you are talking about.

I got most of the parts by buying/trading on this site

                  You'll need:

                  -Valve Assembly
                  -Body Rail (w/rail bushing)
                  -Galactic Z-Body
-Autococker threaded very large bore (very important) barrel
                  -Grip Frame (I picked up a Z-Grip)
                  -Sear
                  -Sear Pin
-Drop or ASA & air line
                  -HPA tank

I did save money over buying a new mag & the Z-Body.

To answer your question. If you use small bore paint and a large bore barrel, this thing works great. Better than a flat line because it is adjustable and can actually make paintballs fly upward.

It is utterly useless for speedball of any kind. It is excellent for Rec and scenario.

The Z-Body is kind of a waste - the only substantial benefit from a backspin setup is a flatter trajectory. You might want to consider using that money towards an X-Valve, Warp or Halo B, no-rise body... Intelliframe... nice HPA, barrels, or get an Emag or XMag outright if you have the cash.

You might wanna check with Tunaman (tunamart.com) on parts... he's got stuff... and can hook you up with a custom setup.

If you have a need to "build" one... take the gun apart and put it together. Same thing. :)

Yeah, you might want to consider getting Tunaman to put a gun together for you. He does great work :)

Anyway, I had a Z-body before, and it was nice. Along with it, I had a .700 CP barrel, and I shot Advantage paint. It was Awesome when it wasn't breaking paint (lvl 7 'mag :P) and I would consider going back to one if I found a deal for one cheaply.

You deffinatly get a flatter trajectory. I felt it gave me an increase in range mainly because I was using more brittle paint (advantage fill) and it'll break at lower velocities.

If you *DO* get one, toss on a lvl-10 kit, and use the most brittle paint you can. Make sure it's round also, that effects the accuracy a lot since you're using spin. A combination of Round and brittle paint will give you a pretty good advantage in range.

joeyjoe367 - Is the CP barrel the 2-piece? I've been trying to find a large bore that was also nice looking. I also have the zbody and was using marbs which gave good results till they changed igredients. They use starch now. At first I thought that the plastic piece in the spin rubber was the problem, it broke since it was the first gen. I replaced it but still had distant issues. Now I will try advantage paint.

No, I custom ordered it from Custom-Products. It cost me $66 as opposed to a normal .689 bore CP. Not cheap, but it got the job done, and done quite well.

I'm seeing that the freak kits and stuff have much larger bore inserts (and backs for other kits) so you should be able to get decent results from the larger bores out of those kits.

It would be nice to have one of those kits also, if you decided to turn off the backspin (it is adjustable on the Z-body) and play with a 'cocker threaded 'mag :) Toss in the appropriate fitting insert/back and have plain' old paint-lobbing fun, or switch to large-bore, crank up the skid pad, and have flat-long range shots.

The skid pad doesn't like the mineral oil that a lot of paints have on them.

and get lvl 10 so you don't chop/break that brittle paint.

Only one problem. It was found when having my Z Mag fitted with the ReTro that the LvL10 wont fit in the Galactic Body. Im having one of my extra bodies Honed out to try and remedy this but as it stands its a No-Go. Good Luck with your build up.

I had the exact same problem. I took a digi caliper and sized the nose and body of the LX bolt. The nose turned out to be slightly larger. All I did was to take light sandpaper and sand it til it fitted without any problems.
