I know tuaman uses the smallest spring, but have no idea about shims. I don't use any shims. I use a 0.5 carrier, smallest spring and it still stops. Granted it stings when it smacks my thumbb but has yet to chop some brittle paint.

Hmmm, I can think of a couple of possibilities.

1) The chrono was off. Who knows right? Did the paint fly like your marker was shooting hot?

2) Your paint to barrel size. I live in AZ and I know for a fact that as the day progresses and it heats up. I have to change the inserts for my freak set or my velocity will change. (Without me having to adjust my velocity screw)

Well I noticed the setups seem softer on paint if you use a not soo tight carrier, it gives less of a POP into paint...
