    help with level 10

Please excuse me if this is a very simple question, but I am very new with the Automag! I purchased a level 10 kit for my classic automag, and I can not get it to work! I have tried varies carriers,Turned up my velocity, and up to 3 shims, and my gun will not cock! The gun also has never leaked when I have done all of these different things. When I put the level 7 back in it works fine. I have gone through the forum (Im not to automag smart) and haven't found the same problem. One more question: should the bolt rest back where the old bolt did? I have about a 1/4 inch gap? I hope I have explained this O.K.
    Please respond quick!

yes the bolt should look just like it did on the old valve.

Are you POSITIVE that you have it put together right?
    double check that
and you did change the power tube tip correct.

Yes I changed the tip. I'll check if I put it together right. I think I did, but you never know! It is pretty simple to put together right? Or is there a trick?
      Thanks for the quick responce!

I put the o-ring down. I haven't had a chance to mess with it since I posted. I'll let you know if I figure it out. Any more ideas? let me know.
          Thank You

Have you tried turning the velocity up? Level x works at a higher operating pressure and usually turning the velocity up does the trick. The bolt not going back as far seems odd. How do you know how far the bolt is going back when it's inside the gun?

I turned it up to the point that it almost fell off. I ment that the bolt doesn't slid all the way down the power tube. There is about a 1/4 gap from the back of the power tube (by where the old blue washer sat). After messing with the gun thie morning, I got the gun to leak down the barrel. This has never happened before. All that I did different was: I put more pressure on the carrier + 4 shims, and I think it slid in the power tube farther.

you turned what to the point it almost fell off???
to adjust the velocity up you turn the back of the reg
                clockwise(in)

By "put more pressure on the carrier" do you mean used a stiffer spring? 4 shims sounds a little high. I never use more than 2 and some people don't use any. A leak down the barrel is usually fixed by going to the next smaller carrier. Are you sure you are getting the carrier pushed down far enough when you are changing it? Someone had a problem w/ their x valve and they were trying to put another carrier in there and they never took the original one out.

take the non writing end of a bic pen and push the carrier down its a little tough at the end.
i think chuck is correct you probably arnt getting it all the way down.

It seems that the carrier is all the way down. I can't see the backing washer when it is in. By more pressure I meant more force pushing the carrier in. Clockwise, huh? Maybe that will make a difference.
                      Thanks for the replies.

yes put a LITTLE oil on the black oring on the outside of the carrier and then put it in the powertube. push it down with the end of the pen. it is a little tough

and yes mags velocity is adjusted by the reg nut on the back of the valvle clockwise(right) is more velocity
                        counterclockwise(left) is less.
and remember it dont take much of a turn to change the velocity so go slow

I have oiled everything, and turned the adjuster clockwise. Still no luck! Maybe I'll try to explain my problem better. The on/off pin is not making contact with the sear. The trigger ends up with nothing but free motion, and it does not connect with the trigger rod! With the old level7 it works just fine. So it has to be somthing with the level 10.
                          Thanks
