So far...over a few yrs now, I see no problems with the batteries or the radio shack charger. I use the 12v 1500ma charger mentioned in the above post.

Question- How many mA is the X/E battery? (yeah, too lazy to take mine apart)

I see a problem brewing here with these chargers, but I want to see if my theory holds water...

Thanks for the correction Miscue. I'll have to talk to that Rob I'm just happy he was able to solve the problem.

Ran the X all day - about 3000 rounds and nary a sign of any electronic hiccup. So, I can only assume it was that ratshack charger.

Tuna, You say you use it without problems and it charges just fine? Do the red/green light on the AGD charger come on like they are supposed to? Mine never did. Also, how long did you usually charge yours? 3-4 hours like AGD recommends using their charger or are the charge times different using the ratshack part?

I wouldn't bother sending the charger back - AGD won't warranty it unless it's under 90 days old. According to the Airgun warranty page the coverage is:

"We offer a 90-day limited warranty from the date of original retail purchase. This limited warranty covers some parts, labor, manufacturing defects, and malfunctions. It does not cover abuse such as wrapping the marker around a tree when you lose a game, nor does it cover damage that occurs as part of an accident such as a house fire or hurricane.

After the 90-day limited warranty ends, we have what we call star warranty program. There are one to four stars laser engraved above the serial number on your marker's valve assembly. Each star entitles you to a free repair of your marker."

There has been some debate in past threads about whether the above statement cover whole guns - or only the valves. In one thread Jon weighed in and said that when he ran tech it covered the whole gun. When I had the battery and charger issues JJ stuck to the 90 day rule. All I can say is that you're doing important development work for AGD - so they might make an exception in your case.

Sorry to hear that some ppl are have problems with the batteries. I haven't had any problems with either of my batteries yet with my e-mag battery being almost 2 years old now. I have always used a Coleman Power Supply to charge my batteries since I already had it for my portable cooler. You can find them online for about $35, but they are very plain Jane, just a plug for the wall and a car type cigarette plug, no extra plugs or switches or guages. Just plug in the e-mag battery charger to the power supply and let it charge.

I really don't understand volts, amps, or whatnot but the output says 12V dc @ 5.25 amps. My batteries always get warm but never hot.

I have heard that it isn't good to leave the battery charged all the time, as i use to charge my batteries after every weekend of play, usally on Sunday night. Is it better to charge like the night before?

2 ways to skin a cat

                    Heya:

As one of my first posts, I hope that it will shed some light on an idea that I've put into practice.

I do a lot of computer modding and at one point had put a cigarette lighter female receptical into my computer on a switch. For those that are not familiar with a computer powersupply, there is a 5v and a 12v lead to all devices within the computer.

I was lazy one day (of many) and decided to try using that plug to try charging my emag. Low and behold, it WORKED. I wonder if someone could make a market acceptable device that would accomplush the same thing. Just a thought..

Still waiting for the day you see AGD and Cisco get together and make Network Attached Paintball Guns w/ and RJ45 or Firewire port on them. lol
