    reg seat break in needed?!

i finally got around to replacing all of my orings in the valve but did not have a tank to test it with. my tank came back from rehydro today so i aired it up and a small amount of air came out of the blow off valve. well i pulled the trigger and the air stopped.......a few seconds later the leak came back.....pulled the trigger again...it stopped again. It continued to do this. I pulled the valve out, inspected it to make sure no dirt was on the reg seat and that it was in the right way. Everything was fine. I then put the valve back together and aired up again, same thing. I even adjusted the velocity screw which did very little in helping stop the leak. I then replaced my new reg seat with the old original one, aired it up and major air flow came out of the back of the blow off. At this point I am confused. So for the hell of it i put the new seat back in and aired it up, no leak as of yet!!??

So does a new reg seat need to break in to seal correctly? Or is this another problem? Also, are you suppose to lube the seat or oring that seals the 2 halves of the valve (the big one that sits on the back half)? I did not because I could not find anywhere in the manual that says to lube it. Thanks for any help and your time.

The seat could have been upsidedown and that is what probably caused your leak. It doesnt need a break-in.

Oil never hurts in a mag, so go ahead and oil anything you feel should be oiled.

Actually, you can over oil a mag. If there is too much oil on the o-rings, they can leak. I find that if I over-oil my emag, it will leak out the back like this. I have had to take the back half of the valve and clean the excess oil off the reg seat in the past.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.
