You'd have to change some o-rings,maybe the reg seal.

If I had any CO2 I'd try it myself.FYI,I used to run CO2 w/ no anti syphon or expansion chamber, just a gas through and every once in a while, through a remote.I really have no complaints doing that on a Classic.I really only switched over at the time for convenience and to save money on fills.

'Course now HPA is pretty much standard in most places and for most people.

Just fyi I filled up my 20 oz tank and rapid fire about 50 or so shots off w/o it freezing up on me. I hooked the tank directly to my asa. During the shooting I made sure not to tilt the tank to keep any liqiud co2 from entering the gun.

That would be hard while playing. By the time you buy all the add ons to run CO2 you could by a steel HPA tank. I ran a classic on CO2 for 3 years then went to air. Big difference in the winter and shot to shot was better. You could make a pack for that 20lb bottle Turn that bottle upside down and shoot that rt. Co2 doesnt recharge fast enough during cooler weather, it couldnt keep up with an RT. I got shotdown on the classic with co2, gone when I switched...

I think it was Army who made a post a while back about doing an experiment running an Emag on CO2. As I recall the whole thing froze up after a short burst... pretty much froze every o-ring in the valve. But other than having to replace them, its not like freezing all your o-rings does any permanent damage to the valve.

In some situations I imagine that an RT valve could shoot on CO2. However, classics are notorious for disliking any liquid, and the RT only recharges faster, so you have a greater chance of sucking liquid into the valve. The problem is that when C02 goes from liquid to gas, it sucks heat out of its surroundings, as anyone who holds a CA tank while shooting rapidly knows.

The theory of the problem with CO2 in the RT is that it can shoot so fast, and recharge so quickly that you risk sucking small droplets of liquid CO2 into the valve before they have an opportunity to expand to a gas -- despite the best preventative efforts. Once in the valve, the liquid turns to gass, freezing the o-rings and potentially causing you to shoot hot if it boils off inside the dump chamber as it empties through the bolt.

The important thing though is that the faster you shoot, the less time you give any liquid CO2 in your feed line to turn to gas. The faster you shoot, the more danger there is of getting liquid into the valve.

In a warm environment, if you can keep your CO2 mostly in a gasseous state in whatever tank you're holding it then you can probably do it -- and indeed it has been done as evidenced by this post.

The reson why they tell you not to use C02 is because the RT valves recharges by dumping its input into the chamber then sealing it off.

If you happen to get liquid co2 in that chamber then it seals off. Then the c02 has a chance to flash to gas. You will get shots hot enough to cause severe injury... If you get a good dose of c02 in there we can see shots upwards of 500 fps.

Dont do it... Its more of a saftey issue than anything.

                              whats new

is there any update on this thread. I am itching to get an x-valve and i was suspicious about the no co2 statement. i have no plan on shooting 20+ balls a second. And compressed air isnt anywhere i play. Us guys mostly play around the woods and refil out own co2. I would love to upgrade to the x. Please keep us posted. Maybe tom could chime in.

Why do you think tom says NO CO2 he says it because its unsafe...

If we decide to use c02 and we injure sombody its our own fault.
