got an old minimag need help

well for one ive been using a cocker for years and have never owned a mag but have seen and shot them, i liked them very much. my friend is getting rid of his minimag and,he bought it in like 97' i think, no upgeades except an ans bolt. it hasnt been used in about 2 years , i got a rebuild kit and replaced all the o-rings an lubed it real good but the thing wont fire. i can feel pressure in the trigger but ----nothing i messed w/ the sear and stuff and came up w/ no improvement. what should i do? is it worth the trouble or should i buy a newer version, can this be upgraded someone help please.

    Define "messed with sear"?

    Try turning up the velocity.

Don't adjust the trigger rod. It should be at 1.985". You'll need some calipers now that you've adjusted it so you can get it back to the right size.

The gun can be fixed, but you should take the time and learn what you're playing with. Get the video, understand what you're adjusting.

After you get the trigger rod back to its correct length, turn the velocity up. If that does not fix the problem, take the on/off assembly apart again and make sure you put it together correctly. The blow up diagrams are available on Airgun Design's website. Assuming you don't have Level 10, there's not much else to go wrong with the gun.

You can get the diagrams online from AGD. With the valve in the gun, adjust the trigger rod so that there is about 1/16" of gap between the back of the trigger and the front of the rod while the trigger and the trigger rod are forward.

Check the on/off assembly. Is the brass top piece a newer universal top(no up or down) or does it have an X cut in one side. If its the older X type, make sure the X faces out of the on/off hole.

With air attached, turn up the velcoity until the gun fires.

Are you using a high pressure tank? Don't use a low output tank. They won't work on mags.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

Because it alters the relationship between the trigger and the on/off pin.

Basically- it'll mess with how the gun fires, if it will at all.

                    huh......

Thanks Dayspring for reply. Reason I asked WHY was because I adjusted mine out to take out extra trigger slop and I don't have any problems. Frame I use is a Benchmark double trigger 45.
