    Homemade mag

well i had this idea, making an automag out of pvc piping,

using a female ended pvc piping to insert a barrel, and melting a feed neck vertically, it would be more than thick enough to handle pressure, and it could be mounted on a rail easilythere would be a few issues that i could work out, but does anyone think it would actually work? im sure it would shoot, and if i do this i will let you know how it works and looks

im pretty sure pvc piping is pretty tough, like a 1/4 in or so

Well thats not the problem, The valve is what holds the pressure. However with the amount of time/money to get it to work you can just buy a ULE body.

Which is stronger, ABS or PVC? I have used abs for the 2 potato cannons I have made... I just never thought about pvc.

well it shouldnt cost much, i have measurements to make, holes to drill, and a few alignment specifications, it shouldnt cost much at all, i would imagine 40 bucks tops, and the whole project would be fun so the time is well spent

two things i need to specify on though,

1 i will be using a classic mag rail

2 i will be using a carbon grip

the only pvc piping will be the bod and barrel, unless i can mod a rail for this, which will be difficult with valve alignment

You also need to factor in a lathe to get tolerances correct, tapping for the barrel, tapping for the feedneck, and whatnot.

use pvc. pvc has higher pressure rating then abs and abs is more brittle. dont melt the pvc cuz it will get more brittle. try using a block of the same material as the pipe is made of and use a drill press to bore out the holes. then make a feed neck out of another piece of pvc.

Are you doing it in All clear PVC? It would be incredibly cool to see the ball being loaded and the bolt going forward and back.

                            Good luck.

If one of my deals go through, I'll be happy to send you my rail in return for a full walk through on building, materials, tools, etc. This looks like an awsome project!
