i just see tolerances and the pvc not being strong enough to be able to handle it. Personaly i dont recomend doing it it sounds cool but it doesnt seem safe and ya you gotta think thats a lot of preasure your dealing with

The problem isnt the PVC handling pressure, the valve it what does that. The only pressure that the pvc will be exposed to will just be the air coming out of the barrel. However he says he is going to make a barrel and the body, but i gaurentee those pipes are not going to be the exact same size of a barrel and body. in order to get it to work you will need a lathe to turn your barrel into a perfect .687 and to turn the body into the correct diameter for the valve to seat properly.

If you have a lathe, go for it. If you dont, I suggest just buying a ULE body. A late will cost atleast 350 and about another 40 for materials and whatnot.

i already have a ule, i want to do this as a fun project, it would be really cool, and yes depending on price i might use clear pvc

btw when barrels are referred to .687, is that of an inch?

          Tensile Strength, @ yield
          6720 psi

          ASTM D638

that is the pressure strength of the clear pvc piping, even if my hopper breaks and leaks all the air into the pvc it would be fine, which would never happen

it appears im not the first

if i had a rail to donate i would. someone help this guy out! who doesn't want to see a mag shooting a paintball?... from the inside!
i hope you follow through with this. it seems safe enough... the valve takes all the pressure. it should work.

Go for it! You have my support. I've made a 38 inch Talon barrel attachment out of PVC, and a few marshmallow rifles/potato cannons (The marshmallow rifles used combustion to get the same speed as the potato cannons). The only thing PVC did not live up to was skating on it. I set up a PVC sleeve for my rail to make it slicker for grinds, but it cracked after I gapped a 4 set to grind it... Anywho, DO IT!!!
