Asking help with buying 68 mag

Hello, and thanks for the time or curiosity.
I'm new to the sport and in searching for my first purchase I came across the 68 Classic. Can someone help me in deciding if this is a good purchase? These markers have raised my interest. Some people have told me that mags aint worth it, but my searching has led me here and no one's better to set me straight.

    Any helps greatly appreciated

Honestly I would put off buying a marker right away. I would go to my local field and play make friends and ask to shoot their markers and see what you like . Some people really like mags some people dont. By shooting other markers and asking questions you'll being making an informed decision and will probably be happier in the long run.

If you are going to buy some equipment right away I would look into a mask first ,a good comfortable mask will make your paintball experience better no matter what you are shooting .

I have all that equipment from friends. They play with Tippmanns. all ov em. Those and spiders are all I have gotten to shoot really. I have the chance to go and try out this classic, so, I thought Id learn about the sucker. So, really I want to know what type of problems will be waiting for me. I really like the gun. It seems just what I want out of a marker. Simple and elegant design, pull the trigger and it shoots. Im just currious how reliable it is under demanding circumstances.

The advice is very good but Im not quite that new. :)

i would say for a beginner a mag or m98 is probly the ebst choice, both ahve good upgrade paths.

and as said above if you havent played much or at all i suggest renting a few times to see if you like it and how much $ you want to invest in the sport

              im curious,..

was this a store owner/pro shop or was this another player, and ifso how old was he and what was he shooting.

if it was a proshop owner they usualy diss mags because they dont turn a profit on selling them like ions or other electros. not to mention the $ they get when those electros break down.

they know if you buy a mag theyl enver see you again

if you are really serious about getting into the sport then a 68 mag is a great gun to start with. they are reliable, easy to use, and there is a great amount of help and parts right here on AO.
                    Good luck and welcome

This is all great to hear. I'm very glad that I can bring my love of that gun to fruition.

If I can ask another question, what is a good price to pay for the classic? Also, what is the diffrence or what is the powerfeed. ima bit cluless to this

                        Oregon!!

What part of Oregon? I am in salem, and if you want to try a mag out, feel free to look me up. I have Classic mags, Emags, Hyper mags, and RT mags. Anything you want to try out. I love my mag for rec play, and have gotten most of the players at our "fun" field to switch to them. I would at least go with an RT mag if you can afford it (around $200 with goodies).

I bet someone here on AO can hook you up with a good 68 classic for under $100. :)

Also, people make TONS of parts for automags!!-

                          www.themagsmith.com
                          www.tunamart.com (currently down)

If you really start getting into the sport, you can upgrade and customize your gun A LOT. I would suggest going with something such as the pro-classic, because it has the "level 10", and you wont have problems with chopping.

well I know a guy with a classic 68 and a couple o extras. hes askin $200. If you know where I can get em fer cheaper and with the same extras that is the niftiest thing ive heard in a while.

OH! I live in Portland. So whoever it was in Salem you got a pal now. Im really interested to see what you have.

                              Wait!!!

$200 way too high for a classic, unless it has a level 10, barrel kit, double trigger and HPA tank! What all does this classic have? I bet, I can hook you up way better, and so can most here on AO. Make sure it has a level 10!
