Do you have short stroking or does it vent fast enough for an x-valve? Perhaps the lack of QEV is the reason the piston rod broke. Also, try shortening the actuation and making the seal better w/ the mod found in Phishphen's thread that I posted a link to. That's the best mod yet.

I have an MSV-2 (the one with the lever) and I'm going try that in there sometime, the pull on that lever is a little longer (1/8") but lighter than any electro I've felt.
the MSV-1 doesnt exactly need the spring removed, if you look at how its built, you can adjust the screw that holds everything in to adjust the tension on the spring. taking the spring out gives you a lighter pull but also a lighter return.

i had it installed with the QEV for a little while. i tried it without the QEV and it still cycles as fast as you can pull, its really not too necessary. taking it out gives you a lot more space. and no i dont have any short stroking. the lack of a QEV wouldnt cause the piston to break (and i think it broke with it in...), it broke because its just epoxy. i havent looked at that page, im somewhat busy right now... or, rather, i SHOULD be busy now, exams next week.
