I have joined the electro crowed. All of my mags are electric except my pump. Last weekend I saw a guy playing at the field with a non electro mag with a y grip and rt valve. He was shooting just as fast as the rest of us with the electros. I was very impressed and suddenly wondered why all the fuss over electronic guns.

So my suggestion would be an rt style valve and a trigger frame with blade trigger.

Before you decide that you can't afford to upgrade you might want to consider buying your upgrades here on the AO classifieds. Sure a new x-valve costs $225 new, but I've seen rt pro and emag valves modded to accept the ule trigger kit in the $130 range. Only major difference is that an x-valve is lighter, but has the same performance. So if you're used to the weight of your classic valve the weight of an rt pro valve isn't going to matter to you. I bought my modified minimag last year, and it had a ule body and intelliframe. First thing I'd reccommend is the intelliframe for using the 2 fingered triggers, as this would help keep up the bps. Second I'd reccommend the ULE body because it accepts cocker screw in barrels, which are VERY easy to find used. Using this setup I was able to keep up with any tippman at my local field and none of the "electros" conisdered me an easy mark. Sure it can get expensive to upgrade your mag, but let's face it, paintball really isn't cheap in the first place. Besides finding just the right upgrade/look/feel for your mag is part of the joy of owning a mag as they are VERY upgradable. You can buy "new" parts as you can afford them. My $0.02.

What I believe is what is being sold today as a "classic". From what I am reading on-line and on this site, I believe this gun is still a quality gun and is still used today. Also, I think I need to do some up grades. I want to get back in the game. Can some one tell me if this gun is worth upgrading. If so what upgrades do you recommend. Please list from most important to least.

I'm in a very similar quandry. I have one of the black Teflon-coated Level 7 Automags that's about 11 years old. I have been out of the game for a couple of years, rec ball only player, and I have a Pure Energy 68/4500 HPA tank. I'm trying to decide whether to do a Level 10 bolt, a full X-Valve upgrade, or just get a new marker and make my 'mag a backup...and if it's a new marker, what to get?

Dude, since my earlier post I bought a used ION, and now I am very happy... Now I have best of both worlds.

Gene. Go out and use your Mag in a few games, the way it is. Get a feel for it again. Look around and see if someone will let you try their marker. Get an idea of what you would like to change on your Mag. If modding looks too costly, find a marker you like. Relearn the game, and base your decisions on your newfound information. Except for a L10 bolt, my Mag is still stock, and I like it that way.
