About to throw my mag in the trash

Ok, I am getting really frustrated with my mags. I want to fix them myself without sending them out to get fixed.

The main one I am having problems is:
Automag classic with benchmark trigger: I bought it on ebay and noticed when I pulled the trigger and if I pulled it lightly it would start leaking air in between the on/off. Its kind of hard to explain but basically, halfway between on and off it leaks air. I tried adjusting the trigger sear and got nowhere after many tries.

So, I bought a parts kits and replaced all the internals. Now, when I pull the trigger, it makes an air purge "cough" noise and doesn't fire. I tried turning up the velocity, and it ends up leaking slightly out of the velocity adjuster?

Please help me or I am throwing this gun away and going to electros. haha. Thanks

Alright let me try to help.

Your first problem (I know you dont want to hear it is benchmark triggers suck) sorry. I had to let you in on the secret. Fortunetly for you they will work.

First step. Back off your velocity. Turning it up too high will always vent out of the back.
It sounds like your mag is chuffing. If your sear rod is screwed too far in it will not allow the on/off to fully activate, and will not shoot. I would try to lengthen it and let us know what happens.

Remember when your gun is aired up your sear should be 1/16 from your trigger. You do want a little room between them.

Let us know if this ^^ changes/helps at all.

Hey thanks. I adjusted the sear to what you said and that seemed to stop the "chuffing". It is still however doing the "leaking" in between pulls. I basically have to pull the trigger real hard and fast and let it go quick, in order to not let it happen. Anyway, I really appreciate your help.

Take the valve out, and put oil on the On/off orings. 4-5 drops. Also put this in your inlet of your valve reg. If your orings are new they will need to do a little "breaking in"

I did that and it stil does it. I dont think this is it because it did the same thing before I replaced the O-rings. Thanks though

                try changing spacers

Does the air sound like its coming out of the power tube. If so, buy a spacer kit and try changing out different sizes til it stops.

I just had the same problem last week and this fixed it. Also don't forget to add a couple drops of marker oil in the ASA to lube the internals.

did you put the on off together right? As shown on valve. That little plastic ring should go in second, I pull that mistake before being the idiot that I am.

                  Is the On/Off pin bent?

Also even with a benchmark I never needed to adjust the sear.
                  This space for rent.

Yes I did that and the on/off pin is fine. I have no idea what the problem is, Its really annoying ha. Thanks for the help though. I am going to try the spacer suggestion. Does anyone have an extra .225 spacer I can buy for cheap? Thanks

trigger rod is supposed to be 1.985" I just redid mine this week. I havent tried it yet.

I know how you feel about throwing away guns. I was this close *holds up fingers* to throwing my gun to the ground, driving away and not playing paintball for awhile this morning. Instead i decided to pack up my guns and not play paintball for awhile. im tired of shops too. I can count 4 separate guns/instances where i sent a gun in to have repairs. ranging from 10 dollars a gun, to 75+ freakin dollars, only to have it shoot(or not shoot for that matter) the same as before. im done with shops. end rant.

That rod should be 1.985in if I recall correctly. Seeing as someone else came up with the same answer I'm going to say that's it.

As mentioned benchmark frames aren't great which may require adjustment of the rod outside of those tolerances. Did the rod move freely or did you have to try pretty hard? It should be loctited in place and almost impossible to move without using heat to burn out the loctite.

As someone else already said try a smaller PT spacer. Although not advisable, if you have a nice wide fine file and some calipers you can take yours down, I've done it before out of necessity. Otherwise the level 7 PT spacer kit isn't exactly expensive.

do you need just one spacer, or a whole kit??
