The "What the hell is this" Valve

Ok, so Thotograph and I ID'ed that it is a Classic Reverse Valve(we think). But Im missing it looks like a metal sleeve and all the script is missing practically..

Anyone know what this go's to?

I noticed the lack of the pin also, im thinking of making a tight fitting sleeve with a new pin. or drilling a new hole with a longer pin... but i dont know if it has enough metal for that.

You may have room to weld a pin on there.

While I can only imagine the liability problems, this looks like the beginning of "slug" valve bodies. How about a chord valve body?

You know that label saying 3000psi max input? I bet it is close to 1000-1500 now...

As long as the cuts don't leave any section thinner than any of the existing sections, the rating should be close to the original.

            But...

I think the thinnest sections are on the face of the reg which would fail into the valve body, unlike the back of the reg that would fail in your face.

And who do you trust to keep the thickness right?

I guess I wouldn't hook this reg directly up to a scuba tank, but the cut looks like it is just on the spring pack area which is not pressurized. As long as the body can hold the reg adjustment 'nut' and not unscrew itself, this 'design' should be fine.

IMHO that is not safe.. And I would not use it or be near someone who is.

              It only takes once..

I think it would be safe. That doesn't mean I think milling it was a great idea in the first place, though. I would want to run pressure tests on the milled valve prior to using it in an actual marker. I don't believe many of us have the proper hardware for such a test.

OR you can do like they did on the SFLs (which dont have the z lock pin groove) is to put a FAT set screw in through the rail to lock the valve in.

I would retire that valve as soon as possible. It isnt safe any longer.

Or put an after market back half on the valve, like a phase two or something.

Yes, get an inexpensive back half of the valve and be safe.
