How hard would something like that be to make, and could we make it?
Aluminum Classic valves

In a word: NO. In a few more words: the valve internals are different enough that they are not compatible. Yes, the on/offs are interchangeable, but everything behind that (reg seat, valve pin, etc) is different. Take a look at these two blow-ups...Originally posted by pbjunky99Couldnt you take the guts out of a X valve and replace it with classic guts?

I don't see why not. The X-valve and the classic valve have pretty much the same pressures exerted on them, the X-valve probably more so. So if it's a question of strength, it should be a problem. Now it's just getting the drawings for the valve and finding someone who is precise enough to meet AGD standards.Originally posted by robo1Ok, but could an aluminum body be built?Comment

Sure it could...but not without the permission of Tom Kaye.Originally posted by robo1Ok, but could an aluminum body be built?Comment

I don't have the equipment or know how, but I have a friend with both. I just wasn't sure it could be done, if the aluminum would hold up. That was my biggest question. Now I just need Tom's ok to try it.Originally posted by lukeWhat confuses me is if you have to ask how difficult they are to make, how in the world will you make them yourself?
If you make one or two for yourself and are not looking to sell them, you don't need permission. If you intend to manufacture and sell them, that`s a different story.Comment
