Possibly new gun style?

Well, I got bored in math, and drew this instead of taking notes,so it better work, because I'm not exactly happy with that test grade...

Would reversing the internals in a Spyder do anything?? I think (From my drawings) that it would become closed bolt and blow forward.

My plan was to: Put valve with air source in back lower tube; put striker and springs in front of bottom tube; put bolt in top tube, but it would be more forward because of repositioning; move feedneck up (required because of the repositioning). I will get an AUTOCAD up soon. It may not be pssible for closed bolt, but I think blow forward and all would make it all the more better and closer to high-end.

Has this been thought of yet??

If not, I would like to pull it off...

Sorry to burst your bubble but this design will fire when the bolt is open, resulting in MAJOR blowback. Also I doubt it could load a ball either because of this blowback. Nice thinking though

why have a top tube at all?

for the past few days i've been pondering a single tube (closed bolt?) blow forward.

basically it's an automag with a poppet valve (spyder) instead of an A.I.R. valve. the bolt would act as a hammer.

to cock it you would move the top cocking knob forward. this would compress the bolt spring and lock the bolt with the sear. when the sear is tripped, the bolt slides backward along the power tube. the power tibe piston hits the valve pin, located at the rear of the power tube, and releases the air. this pushes the bolt forward, chambering the ball. when the piston leaves the end of the power tube the air is released down the barrel,firing the ball.

however i see three problems with this design:

1. a force feed loader is a must because the time that it takes for the marker to cycle may be shorter than the time needed for a ball to fully drop into the chamber.

2. the velocity must be adjusted via an external regulator

3. with the right sear, you would be capable of full auto fire by holding the trigger.

Wow, ultralight, that sounds alot like a gun I kind of designed a while back.. a cross between a tippmann and a mag

I dont know if it would work that well though..

Just noticed that my design would be full auto. Easily fixed though, just set the trigger up like a spyder.

I dont really see any advantage this design would have over say a tippmann though..

A tippmann and an automag... think of how reliable it would be!

A "blow-forward closed-bolt" would be VERY difficult to time. How do you keep the breech open long enough for a ball to feed?

And forget single tube. Unless you want a marker that stjcks out a foot behind the breech.

Then again, that electronic marker looks much like that.... Super long and a two inch barrel.

Sorry this thread died.. *Resurrects thread*. I can't find that page of my 'math notes' anymore...But, I thought of a SpyderMag (Mag valve in Spyder body) that used a similar concept as my first idea. I'm looking through my notes for it's specs... I have no organization skills. I like the TippMag and the other single tube SpyderMag. I may have to see what a bench grinder, Dremel, and drill+coffee+a few long nights can make happen here...

this gun sounds a lot like the gun that palmer tried to make as the first semi-auto

to make a long story short, it didnt work because it was closed bolt and the bolt wouldnt stay opn long enough for a ball to feed

i think the alien is supposed to reverse spyder internals and because of that it makes the barrel so far back.
