Can I build my own Devilmag?

Ok guys I have a serious question. I seen the poor guys still waiting to receive their Devilmags and I am not going to take that route. I am Tim Taylor from Tool Time type and if it has been done, then Dammit I will do it. Unfortunately, i still consider myself noobish with mags. My questions would be. What kind of frame will I use? I like he frame they use for the Devilmag and looks sort of like a Chimera. Can I use a chimera frame for turning it into electro? If not what? Next is the placement of the eyes, from what I see they are in the same spot as the ball detent (ULE body). Is there a trick to mill the eyes or is it something simple as drilling around it? Last question is how what type of board would I use. I assume it would be a Predator Morlock board, but I heard somewhere it was not built anymore. Is this correct? Are there any other boards? Thank You all in advance for any assistance you can give me.

Mini Morlock made by KM2 www.exarin.com, a Vert frame is unlikely, there are just so many modifications to achieve the goal.

I have done something similar to what you are thinking about.

      Logic vert frame
      Hyperframe noid
      Mini morlock

Works nicely (shoots 17 cps at FA reliably). It did need some modification to the frame to fit everything, which I luckily had access to a mill to do, but probably can be done with a dremel if you are careful.

There is a thread about it here, unfortunately all pic's have been lost when my old computer crashed. I havent installed eyes, but from what i read about it at the time, a drill press should be able to do the job, although a vertical mill is preferred. You just need to get the eye placement right.

In short, it's doable. A lot easier with the right tools (ie a mill), but probably possible with hand tools.

      Good luck

Wow man, thank You. That is definitely a start. Well, I see that there are different boards and he talks about a TAG morlock board and that the is united with them or something. Is there a difference from his KM2 board and the TAG board? Anyway, is the hyperframe the only frame that will allow you to fit this board into it? What type of 90* did the TAG guys use for their Devilmag? I am good with electronics and my dad is a machinist. I also know guys that install eyes. I just might be able to make it happen.

        Thank You

If you do decide to do your own Devilmag I have a Predator II board for sale alot cheaper than new. I was going to do the exact same thing and got sidetracked. Good luck.

Thank You, As long as I know placing the eyes is doable I can find a way. Did you use a ULT kit for your setup? That is one of the things the guys at TAG ask for in one other their package options. Was it difficult to connect the board and pneumatics together? Can there be such a thing like lvl 10 and eyes working together? Now that would be pimpin!

Yes, I currently have an X-Mag body with a lvl10 on my Vert Frame D-Mag, I think the Predator Boards are just a code change.

I didn't use any pneumatics, the hyperframe noid is a "pancake" type noid, that physically pushes the sear.
ULT is needed for this setup. If you decide to go the more complicated, but probably better (a lot less power consuming, and probably faster) way of using a soleonid valve, pneumatic ram and LPR, ULT is not needed, and may even lower performance.
LVL10 works fine with eyes (X-mags and E-mags with eyes works like that), just tune your lvl10 as usual, and install eyes. You probably want to keep the lvl10 bolta even if you don't want it for chop protection, because it's lighter than lvl7, thus has less kick. It can be tuned to use less air, but not as easy on the balls if you trust the eyes.

EDIT: The pred and morlock are the same boards, just different coding

The difference between a predetor morlock and a morlock is the codeing. you cant get predetor morlocks anymore but you can get a morlock then send it to tag to get preditor code flashed on the board but costs something like 30$. Also the creator of the morlock is in the process of makeing a micro-morlock which is going to be even smaller then the current mini but no idea of when its going to be released.

I'm in the process of makeing a electro pneumatic frame for my mag, I have all the parts and I'm in the process of putting it all together. For my project i'm useing a mini-morlock, clippard mpa-3 (pneumatic ram), this solinoid, a stock cocker lpr and random air fittings. Once its completed i'll be making a post listing everything in detail but that could still be a few weeks away depending on how fast mounting the parts in the frame goes.

I took some pictures, and also found my plans (all measurements are in mm).
These are the measurements used for the hyperframe noid.

Are the guys at Tag similar to the Devils Den guys that take 1 year to service you? I am really optimistic about this project.

I have a mini-morlock board that I sent in to Chris to get flashed to Pred 5.0 software and had it back in four days.

Flashing boards is simple and fast. No parts needed so there should be no problem getting a board flashed.

Now if you are looking to buy a board then it depends on stock. There have been a few boards for sale around the forums though.

Well after looking at my options I am going to need go with a sear tripper type selenoid. I know they waste more electricity, but with a rechargeable 9 volt Nimh battery that could be fixed. BTW I changed my mind about the whole Devilmag idea. This is going to be an upgrade for my Emag. I will attempt to install predator board and eyes.
