    AO Crashing Issue

    Guys,

I am in wyoming and a bit out of touch but here is what is going on from what I understand.

The AO server is out of hard drive space and causing the forums to crash. The techs at Delaware don't have the internal passwords to get to the proper area to clean out crap. The short fix was to disable the PM's while we find out how to get into the system properly.

Thats what I know right now, please stand by while we work it out.

I'll send you a PM on the best way to do that....

Thanx though really... and I'm having AO withdrawals!!!!

    Guess we should start AOAnon!!!

This forum needs a member upgrade option. More pm space and other things for a annual fee.

Ill pay $$$ for a annual just to help out, and more pm space would be awsome!!!

How much drive space does a forum like AO take up? A terabyte or two?
Is adding more drive space as simple as it sounds, or does it involve replacing all the drives and thousands of dollars?

I'm with KC, I would like a "upgrade package" if you will, more PM space is the big thing.
Or just a way to support the cost of AO.

I'm not unhappy with AO now by any means, but if that would help out with the cost, I'd jump right on it.

                          Well... I never...

If it was not for the typical habit of most forums of people posting mindless drivel and answering questions they don't know the answers too and going on and on about unrelated things....we wouldn't be out of space.

Now mind you I am just as guilty as anyone of some of that. Not trying to be Mr Snooty nose... or nothing.

You remember this old thread from way back? Went around years ago and still does from time to time. Might be time to reflect on it. We all can see some of ourselves from time to time in it... It was only written because its so true!

How many AO Forum members does it take to change a light bulb?

1 to change the lightbulb and to post that the lightbulb has been changed.

14 to share similar experiences of changing lightbulbs and how the lightbulb could have been changed differently.

7 to caution about the dangers of changing lightbulbs.

10 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing lightbulbs.

5 to flame the spell checkers.

                          3 to correct spelling/grammar flames.

6 to argue whether it is "lightbulb" or "light bulb".

Another 6 to condemn those 6 as stupid.

2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is "lamp".

15 know-it-alls who claim they were in the industry, and that "lightbulb" is perfectly correct.

19 to post that this place is not about lightbulbs and to please take this discussion to a lightbulb forum.

11 to defend the posting to this forum saying that we all use lightbulbs and therefore, the posts are relevant to this place.

36 to debate which method of changing lightbulbs is superior, where to buy the best lightbulbs, what brand of lighbulbs work best for this technique and what brands are faulty.

7 to post URL's where one can see examples of different lightbulbs.

4 to post that the URL's were posted incorrectly and then post the correct URL's.

3 to post about links they found from the URL's that are relevant to this group which makes lightbulbs relevant to this group.

15 to link all posts to date, quote them in their entirety including all headers and signatures, and add "+1".

5 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the lightbulb controversy.

4 to posts "didn't we go through this already a short time ago?"

13 to say "do a Google search on lightbulbs before posting questions about lightbulbs".
