I like it too and were it in Utah I would sign myself up in a heartbeat. I think the real disadvantage is that people don't want an even playing field. You make all things but the player themselves the same (guns field mixed up teams . . .) and then it really is based on the players.

What the game needs is a way to level things out, bring skill and honor back and still be breathing. Lose the wiping whining and winning based on cash outlay and you have a sport. Meanwhile I am staying where it is fun. The woods. Funny thing is that is where the crowd is headed. I wonder why?

You all must have missed these two points. Cant hurt to try. Whats the worst that will happen? No one will sign up? You have that now. Keep out the sandbaggers and sleepers and the walkons should have a gas. Would be fun to Judge to. Get on the fliers will ya.

I think you have a good idea , my adjustments ; 1st team out gets thier entry fee back ( just to make them feel better ) , field rental only EXCEPT byopump , don't worry about limiting the paint (its only 3 min' let the paint fly )

I put the paint limit in place more to be a mental cushion for the new people, as I don't think I would be able to put 400 shots to use during a 3 minute 3 man game with a single trigger 98.

Byopump sounds like it could work out as it could draw in the guys that normally steer clear of the speedball as well.

As for serious tourament players, we don't have any. We have 4-5 "teams" that like to post on the forums but they never actually put their money where their mouth is.

Use whatever marker you want... just hand them a shake hopper on the way to the field :P

Hi everyone, first post on this forum.

I think this is a great idea, but I have a suggestion.

Don't worry about the markers or the hoppers or any of that stuff, just do one thing:

Limit the paint. 1/2 case per round per team or something like that.

Then let those teams with those flashy electros shoot at 20 bps with ramping etc. They'll run out of paint first and the other team will win.

Great idea i would do it, but i would want to use my own mask, and not a smelly rental.

my only gripe would be that I own a purely mechanical marker - why cant I use it?

Lets face it, the thing you are eliminating is the ramping electro's - so full mech should be allowed.
Because you want to use your full mech to gain an advantage over other players through technology. Gee, what a surprise on these boards. Electros should be banned... ramping sucks...

Oh.. my very closely set RT marker / pneuframe / super custom built mech (of anykind) that will outshoot everything out there in speed should be allowed

Manipulate the rules so what we own is the best allowed....

That is the paintball way, isn't it? If you can't handle it you shouldn't play. It's a part of the sport...bla bla bla...

Isn't that the way it is now?

I'm an archer as well as a paintball player.

My archery pro-shop and range had an exhibit at a local sport show where you could pay a buck to shoot balloons with the proceeds going to charity.

Some of the better tournament archers from the region showed up to say "hi."

In true sportsman-like fashion, they paid their dollar, got handed three arrows and a "field-rental" bow and proceeded to pop balloons like they were born holding those field-rentals.

The real sportsmen and women don't use equipment as a crutch.

I'd be in for a tourney with all rental gear.

At a tourny 3yrs ago my team challenged another team that had much more tournament experience to a field rental game.
It just so happened to be the field owners team we challenged.
We used his 98c's, everyone had a blast playing and the other teams watching thought it was a riot.
We won that game, it was funny listening to the other guys talking about how hard the trigger pull was.
I was used to using a Classic Mag that year so I really didn't notice a differense in trigger pull, but when it's not a mouse click of a pull I guess it's a bit of a handy cap.

I have talked with the field owner of the field I play at and he is cool with me running an event like this, aswell as a Pump tourny.
The pump event would be a use ours or bring your own, the field owner said if I set up the event he'd purchase the loaner pumps for those that wanted to play but are pumpless.

Another Idea I have had was to run a series using the 3 local fields, I have had good talks with 2 of the fields but the other one is a bit of a hard sell cause he doesn't want to team up with the compotition.

I have yet to play it but in the winter the field in Wasaga Beach runs a mech only tournament series with great success.
