hey how hard you guys think it would be to make my own groove for the rail?

i think the only hard part is the angled ramp.....

The whole idea isn't a bad one, for someone with some decent tools, I.E. a small lathe at least. You have to limit the back AND forward stroke. Or else the pump handle comes off when you pump it back forward. But it wouldn't be too difficult to mill a larger hole in the front of the pump handle (larger than the guide rod) and place a washer on the end of the guide rod to limit forward travel. My only downside to the whole deal is the pump handles on those kits are small, too small for me.

I guess it depends what you plan on using to cut the groove. I would think if using hand tools (dremel or file) the hardest part would be cutting a straight groove. If you can do that I would think the ramp at the end would be easy.

Someone get an order together for AGD or CI or something and we'll all jump on. Like matt did with the UMF. Problem solved. I like the idea, but I don't really want to do a hack job.

Rainman229 did the milling on my pumpmag and his machining skills are real good. He also dose a lost of custom work at a decent price. I don't think this would be to difficult for him to mod onto a mag rail. Take a look at some of his projects here: http://www.mcarterbrown.com/forums/r...e-gallery.html

I don't doubt rainman could do it, I don't think it would be as hard as everyone makes it seem, hell why not give rainman or luke a gen 2 kit and have em mod up a set of arms and handles, the rods and wave springs aren't much to make up.

The pump rod isn't captured in the rail , so the handle will just shoot off after you pump.

If ther are enough people willing to preorder a run , I have some connections that could probaby make a whole kit happen.

                      Probably need ~100 people/kits.

100 is way more than we could get onboard. I could see probably 30-40, or so. And that's with a couple prospectors buying 2-5 to make a few bucks later when we can't seem to find them fs anymore...

I'm about to break down and have Rainman scratch build one for me.

"Break down, break down, break down" . Be sure to run it by Rainmann229 first to get his opinion first. Also cyberave has awesome machining skills and is another excellent choice.

im wondering....the milling on the rail......if i adjust the ramp on it, it could make for a very short pump pull

would anyone know how short is possible with the standard rail grooves ramp?

All you'd have to do is re-bend or make a new pump rod ( longer , pretty simple by hand) and you can have it down to almost a click. Right around 1/8" if you cut it tight enough.

just keep in mind the pump rod has to clear the bolt, dont want the bolt smashing into the rod
