    Oh, wait.

Our careless use of HPA tanks perhaps? Take a scuba diver friend to the field once, let him see how we treat loaded HPA bottles (or how we fill them). Ask him/her where the next death in paintball will come from? I doubt it has anything to do with paint or markers.
Granted, given that argument and how many players play regularly all over the world, the percentage of accident given bottle failure (accidentally or because of something stupid) is very low. Could it happen? sure. But has it happened? not all that often.

Take that % of accident and compare it to say baseball, hockey, or football and I bet we are much safer than any of those sports. Who's to say a baseball bat, hockey stick/skate, or just football in general isn't just as dangerous? A baseball bat swung stupidly could hurt someone just as bad.

Oh, I agree there. That being said "we" seem to be so quick to point at ramping markers as the great threat in paintball. Its not accurate, either given historic accidents or "obvious" concerns. Its really nothing more than a sound byte to those who want to cry foul over ramping markers it seems.

In baseball its not the bat swung wrong as much as the ball hit "right" that causes problems. I agree that there are dangers in all sports, and most of the time they are classified as obvious and inherent.

Agreed. You can say *anything* is dangerous if you look at it the wrong way. Hell, I'm more apt to slip and fall down my stairs, killing myself, than kill myself playing paintball IMO.

I agree, the greatest threat we currently face in paintball is the 3k-4.5k psi bomb we have under our arm. People just dont realize the potential destructive force it contains, you have to treat HPA with respect or it will kill you.

Of all the paintball releated deaths, nearly all of them have involved the air cylinder turning into an unguided missiles and striking someone fataly.

There hasn't been any ramping/high rate of fire related deaths, ever.

And unlike the holes that were used previously, even if someone was to put some form of thread sealant on the threads, the channel would still work. it's a great idea and I think every CO2 valve and HPA reg should have it.
