OK for a test I tried turning the "now I know its the velocity" hole on the back of the valve.
It was rather tight...I mean TIGHT....it did turn but took a little ummmmf to get it to do so........this normal? Should it be that tight?

yep it's going to be snug , new valve new thread's ect. , your chrono speeds (varying) should settle down after a couple or 3 cases of paint , the R/T effect should start coming in pretty good by then also ; new valves need broken in

QFT, anything manufactured with tight tolerances (like those in an X valve) will need some breaking in to settle everything in.

Thanks ...now I feel much better informed!
I only got maybe 500 to 800 rounds thru it....so still awhile for it to break in.

I think I saw you around on Sunday at the game. Were you on the "navy seals" side. I'm pretty sure you were near me at one point in the gauntlet...I remeber thinking "nice mag" followed by an "oh crap lots of paint" *hide* I left shortly after the gauntlet, I ripped up my evil pants sliding into a bunker during that fiasco.

I was on the seals. However I opted out of the gauntlet...lol...due to the fact I didn't want to blow through so much paint. I know there were a few Mags out there....a really nice X-mag for one!

Why didn't you ask some of the mag owners on the field? I'm sure they would have loved to help you out.

Don't forget to oil it. About 4 drops of marker oil in the ASA and shoot it through without the barrel after every 1000 to 2000 rounds or so. Some do more or less. It has to do with how tight the seals are and if you grease them or not. Some people seem to use oil only. Some use sand, but they complain.

Poor paint/barrel match is worth about +/- 10 fps, depending on how bad the paint is (which goes all the way up to 'pointless'). I think you notice it more in a mag because they can be so consistent with good paint, but can digest very ugly paint.

I've jammed a teammate's Halo and cyborg with my 'party-mix' paint on a rec ball play day.

so you come up to paintball sams big game? www.paintballsams.com october 6 and 7th. saturday gets about 500 and sunday around 300 players. its one big game of CTF. gotta preorder paint for the event though. but you are SURE to run into ALOT of mags and its only 20 minutes at most from il/wi border

also there is a group of us meeting at paintball Sally's in paddock lake at 8am and all hiking up there. *Sally's is about 20 minutes from the interstate so a little out of your way if you DO come up for the game*
