How expensive a marker will you play with?

I have noticed that every time I buy a really nice "flagship" marker I tend to be a bit more aware of how I treat the rig, rather than just going balls out and playing hard sliding, diving, crawling, etc.
My level seems to be around $3-400 for a new marker, aside from required minor upgrades. I can just get my game on with a marker in that price range, whereas over that I am too worried about damging it. Considering that aside from bells and whistles , many of the low priced markers today more than get the job done.

At what level of expense do you notice you will change your style of play to protect the marker?

If my gear gets a battle scar, its fine.

However, i'll do everything in my power to not let that happen, regardless of the price.

Guns are meant to be played with, $2000 or $1.

I'm not going to let the thought of scratching my marker affect my game.

It's a paintball gun, it's supposed to be given the rough treatment. If I give it a scratch yeah, I don't like it but the more expensive gun is supposed to take abuse better than the $3-400 PMR or ION.

While I'm not gonna be careless with anything, I would say that I agree with the $300-400 range. I know that if I am playing with anything that costs $400 stock, I tend to baby it more than a cheaper marker.
although, I am in college, so I think my value of a dollar is probably a little skewed...

Paintball is not for babies, nor should its equipment have to be treated as such. That dosent mean that Im going to toss my Viking into a bag of wrenches but Im not going to put a diaper on it either.

Markers are meant to be played with, not kept on a shelf like a trophy. Therefore, I'll slide, dive, crawl through the woods, and play where ever with any of my markers.

I would say the absolute most I would normally pay for a marker would be around $700. Don't get me wrong, I love my Marq but if I didn't play on a Bob Long sponsored team I probably wouldn't have gotten it. I find the $550 Intimidators to be the best balance of price to preformance. On the care note, I try to take good care of my markers, but I find once they get thier first scratch its easier to play hard with them. But I refuse to change my style of play on acount of my marker regardless of what it is.

                    $100 to $1700.00

I usually play with a certain few guns when i go to certain places... ie scenario, outlaw, reg fun group, or the over spoiled 10-15 years old at another field i play with.

this is why i baught a mag. i can kick it, beat it, drop it, drown it, brace my fall (i am not light weight), slam a tree and/or bunker, play in the rain, sleet and hail (i'm in texas, there is no snow, other wise i would...) and go balls to the wall everyttime and all the time. if its raining, I pop the eletronis off, switch the sear and play mech in the rain all under 5 minutes, and the only thing I am worried about is the hopper.

I can say I have never baught a High Dollar marker/gun because I don't have too

hmmmm .... good question ... i have a pretty pre2k sniper i'm building that has an almost flawless fade anno... i only paid $100 for it ... and i don't know if i can bring myself to "play hard" with it simply cause it's purdy ...

on the other hand if i had a BINB ULE mag or TacOne ... it wouldn't bother me at all to throw it in the dirt and keep on going....

I've been meaning to ask this question for quite a while now...

Since being on AO, I've seen A LOT of really nice markers w/ custom anno jobs and expensive aftermarket parts used to refine the look of the mag (as well as provide some level of functionality, of course).

I have always wondered if some of these mags that we so proudly display on the forums actually make it to a field?

Honestly, if I spent a couple hundred on an anno job w/ all matching parts, etc, etc. I would find it tough to try not to be a bit protective of it while playing.

As it stands, I am already doing my darndest to not scratch my rail from just inserting/removing my valve when cleaning or tuning.

I play with ALL my markers, including the sfl, I'm not gonna slide around or bang it up, but I still play with it, I notice with the pumpmag I don't mind crawling around with it or hunkering down in the dirt with it.
