Thank you for the compliments everyone!

Here is an explanation for how the Karta ended up the way it is....

ODD originally offered a special 1 of 5 for $2k, I guess they didn't fill that order because they later offered fixed price packages for different part counts. I was in the 6-8 part category which was much less than the special $2k complete gun package. My part count was eight and to go over that was a big jump in price.

My original plan with the feedneck was to get an aftermarket clamping feedneck and have the main part done in Aurora and leave the clamp black. Due to a very busy schedule last winter I dropped the ball and never got around to ordering one so I sent ODD the stock feedneck. I could've sent the barrel back instead but I like the break in the middle with the black.

I asked about the Xvalve, Lorne at ODD wasn't sure if it could be but was willing to take a look at it, I decided that eight parts was my limit and I wasn't about to sacrifice a $200 valve so I didn't send it. I think the plain black "X" valve looks pretty cool and leave plenty of room to get something laser engraved on it if I choose to later.

The one thing that I didn't like about the Aurora markers already out there was that the whole gun, everything, was Aurora finished. Too much of a good thing in my opinion so the black accents were definately intended.

My only regret is my own fault, the feedneck, but when I swap it out and put a plan black clamping feedneck on I don't think it'll look out of place, we'll see.

...and thats the rest of the story.

    Thanks again!

That would more fair to call oil slick because it is not truly an Aurora. It is incredible looking there is no doubt. I too question the decision to stick with a stock feed, but it does look really nice aside from possible better function with a different type.

Dude, the stock feedneck looks Friggin Awesome!

The flames with the aurora kick butt and I think its a BETTER looking choice than an aftermarket feedneck!

I could never force myself to play with something as beautiful as that. Hell I'd have OCD just trying to keep the finger prints off it.

I normally don't like shiny , but shiny LOOKS GOOD on Karta's ( mine are shiny black )
This Karta looks awsome & the black sets it off great , the black may even look better if it were Matte ( make the shiney, more shiny )

I agree the stock feedneck looks very nice, but clamping feednecks are so nifty. Well, it's an amazing gun, regardless!

Not sure where you got your info from but I was told by Lorne at ODDpb that this is the same electro-plating process used by Eclipse just perfected by a guy named Cutstep on PbNation for ODDpb.

The finish is supposed to be more durable than annodizing so normal play should have no effect on the it. Diving into a bunker won't be an issue because I don't !

I understood that the process that was originally used by PE was not electro plating, but was actually almost a "burning" of the aluminum by running a high amount of voltage through it. I think there is a thread on here somewhere about it, but that one of the drawbacks of the original procedure was that it was commonly destructive and ended up ruining many of the bodies it was attempted on. One of, if not the reason that PE quit doing it.
There have been several attempts at a similar process. I remember one guy talking about his "figuring" it out, but that it turned out to flake quite a bit. Might even be the same guy who has found a better way. But simply by the nature of it being a plating, or anno process it is not the same. It looks great, the effect is just as stunning.
