AO: We are back from the dead... again! After an 18 day outage, we are finally alive and well. Who knew how complicated updating software/databases from 2008 would be. I still have alot of tweaks to make, but my main goal was getting everything patched and updated to 2026.
Vbulletin 6 has changed alot since 2008 so we will have a ton of new features to dig into.
I rarely post (mostly just a lurker) but I feel compelled to let you know that this marker is by far one of, if not thee, most amazing looking marker I have laid my eyes on. A true thing of beauty.
I understood that the process that was originally used by PE was not electro plating, but was actually almost a "burning" of the aluminum by running a high amount of voltage through it. I think there is a thread on here somewhere about it, but that one of the drawbacks of the original procedure was that it was commonly destructive and ended up ruining many of the bodies it was attempted on. One of, if not the reason that PE quit doing it.
There have been several attempts at a similar process. I remember one guy talking about his "figuring" it out, but that it turned out to flake quite a bit. Might even be the same guy who has found a better way. But simply by the nature of it being a plating, or anno process it is not the same. It looks great, the effect is just as stunning.
The process Eclipse used on the old Aurora cockers was called "spectrum physical vapor disposition". It is a method of plating that requires between 20k and 40k volts to pass through the piece. The high voltage led to high failure rates.
And that is one beautiful mag, best one I've seen yet....I was planning on doing the aurora finish with my new mag project...but looks like you beat me to it....gggaaahhh
cyrus-the-virus: I would message cutstep on pbnation. He was the main person in charge of the aurora service. I spoke with him for a while about a project of mine and if I remember correctly they are trying to finish up the latest batch of guns before they do anymore. Also, look for a high price I don't think they will do many small part batches anytime soon. Good luck.
VeeWee: Great looking marker. Hope you enjoy it!!!!
I have to agree with whoever said they were glad you didn't waste such a beautiful setup on a Karta Rail with holes. I love my holeless Karta Rail, I wouldn't trade it for anything else. I work really hard to see to it that I could get the holeless rail I wanted.
I can't wait till I have my Pneumag anodized. Though I'm days away from dropping 500 dollars on a virtually new '06 Cyborg, plus a few extra parts so I guess the Pneumag will be raw for a few more months!
Truly unique setup. It's perhaps the only aurora automag in existance. At least that I'm aware of.
Everything syncs up very well, and while i used to think that aurora finished looks dumb on the dye guns, it looks excellent on an e-mag, especially the karta!
I actually started with a three-hole rail Karta Emag but I came across this no-hole body and rail that was setup as a mechanical mag last fall.
Some posts mention an Xmag would look better, I tried to buy one last winter. I missed out on a few that went for less than a $1000 that would've been perfect candidates, there were more for sale but I didn't want pay more than $1000 considering I already had this Karta Emag setup ready to go.
