I think it's worth it. I will not pretend to have any knowledge about the potential dangers of fiber-wrapped aluminum tanks that hold 4500psi. $20 every five years? Fine with me!
I hate tank hydro. Anyone else?

So if I get this right, you guys are complaining about approx. $6 per year to keep you safe and 1 and a half weeks of down time. Yet who didn't spend $25 before on a pair of DYE stickys/Hybrid grips on a gun they probably sold with 2 years...
Priorities people...
Whoah whoah whoah. If that is where this train is headed I want off. I don't think anyone is annoyed with being kept safe. I just wish I could be safe without the hassle/ expense.
For a piece of equipment that cost 150$-200$ to need 30$-40$ (shipping and testing) in maintenance and 10 days downtime is annoying to say the least. It is probably proportionate to new orings, grips whatever on my gat and I am cool with the relative low cost of safety. Safety good. That doesn't make it a crime to wish it wasn't a hassle.

pretty simple for me. A guy in Kenosha, WI. will hydro your tank for 25 bucks which includes shipping. You will get it back on your front stop in about 6 days from the time you ship it out.
The hassle for doing this once every 5 years is hardly anything to complain about in the least. It keeps me safe, and just as important everyone around me safe as well.BEZERKERS

Yes he's local so I'll only tell to those that live in the Pittsburgh area and are willing to drive to drop off an pick up their tanks. The guy I use has been hydro testing tanks for 30 years and has more than 50 years of SCUBA experience. I don't think you can get any more bonified than that.

pfft maybe I should be whining about local costs rather than the hassle of it in the first place (which yes your all right it isn't all that bad compared to safety). Still I am into things that last forever and require little maintenance.

Currently crossfire offers a reg-swap and hydro program. Hydrotest and new crossfire regulator installed for like $50. I picked up an old 68/30 off ebay for damn cheap but it is way out of date and the reg is beat up (the brass is tarnished and all but the guage unscrew by hand!).
So $75 for a practically brand new tank isn't bad at all IMO.

And you can thank me for filling you in..Originally posted by behemoth
Seriously, been dealing with then for a few years now on all my tank tests.
They typically get it back to me in two weeks, usually less.
