AO: We are back from the dead... again! After an 18 day outage, we are finally alive and well. Who knew how complicated updating software/databases from 2008 would be. I still have alot of tweaks to make, but my main goal was getting everything patched and updated to 2026.
Vbulletin 6 has changed alot since 2008 so we will have a ton of new features to dig into.
I'll agree to a degree that there are speedball and woodsball markers. An A-5, having the high profile cyclone feed, is quite impracticle on the air-ball field, even if it does have an electronics and double trigger package...
In the same respect, using a PLanetEclipse Ego in bright white and red and ramping constantly has a harder time in the woods save for a backman or "heavy gunner". In my expeirence woods games are slower paced and the shots are less frequent and at a much lower rate of fire...
However, a paintball gun is a paintball gun.
I currently have 4: a Tippmann 98 modified for Mil-sim, a PMI Trracer I can set-up for VSC, an AutomagRT with warp, and a Delta .68 pistol. I use all of those for everything.
It is difficult but I'll play x-ball with my 34" long, cyclone fed mil-sim 98.
I'll play speedball with my pistol in addition to using it on my thigh in scenarios.
I'll play anything with my pump, and the same in VSC if I feel up for it.
My 'Mag is small enough to own on a speedball field, and tough enough to hold up on the longest scenario.
I don't have a speedball gun and a woodsball gun and a side-arm and a pump gun, I have 4 paintball guns...
Thats the thing I hate in paintball, people who are intolerant of others (and yes, that can be a hipocratic statement). Woodsballers and the scenario crowd can't see the modern form of the game for it's own challenges and equipment, same as the modern AGG kid cannot see or respect paintball's woods oriented CTF roots.
It's like going to a steak place and only ordering the porterhouse. Sure they are known for steak, but they sure do have good burgers, chicken, ribs, etc...
I play paintball, I don't play woodsball/scenarioball/speedball/x-ball/pump...
That's what i was getting at when i said a marker's a marker. My marker at 300 fps can shoot you just as effectively as yours, etc. I'm just sick of people saying certain markers aren't suited to a certain type of play, although a huge rifle replica of course will do badly on a speedball field, that's about the one exception, but those do bad on a woodsball field too so it's all good.
Il n'y a point de sots si incommodes que ceux qui ont de l'esprit.
Whats is funny is the amount of "speedball" situations you can get you self into in a woods ball game. Where it is 2v2 with maybe 6 or 7 big trees or bunkers. A mag is nice in those kind of situations where you need to be tight, fast, and accurate. I ran into one of those with a 98 with a car stock, cyclone and a 16" barrel. I could barely fit behind the tree, much less snap shoot some one flanking
I'd personally rather use a conventional setup than a milsim for woods play. A Mag with a rail/ASA and a 14" barrel is perfect IMO. Hell, I'd rather shoot an EGO than some milsim'd A-5 for woodsball. In my experience it's just not as effective as a gun that you can snapshoot with. Besides, camo and all that crap is next to worthless. I played this weekend at one of the local woods fields with my gloss black and chrome G-Mag with my gloss blue X-Valve. I did fine lol. I even sneaked up on some opposing players from behind and wasted them. Did it matter that I was wearing red E-Vents, red empire pants, and a bright red t-shirt? Apparently not.
Milsim is nice for people who want that realism, but it's totally unnecessary. You can do just as well on the woods field with a flashy setup and "speedball" clothes. Skill is what matters.
I play paintball.....sometimes woodsball, sometimes speedball.....but its always paintball :)
people who make big deals out of that crap are just wasting their own time, dont let them bother you. Some people are so closed minded anything different than what they own is inherently worse....those people need to get past that childish stage and open their minds up.

So very, very true.
When asked what position I play, or role, or flavor, I tend to answer, "I play paintball" and just keep repeating that mantra when I'm pressed for specifics.
"What position do you play?"
"Paintball" "Speedball?"
"Paintball." "I play woodsball."
"I play paintball." "Are you milsim?"
"Er...I play paintball!"
Thats the problem with people when it comes to everything nowadays, they cant listen to others views and would rather fight with that person instead of opening up there mind. Oh well, they will never know what they are missing so its their loss.
Well I can say that guy was funny as I was right beside PvcHook while he was talking about the tac-One being a speedball marker. And Pvc has a stock and a shroud around his barrel.... oh well
He said pretty much the same to me when I was filling my pods as he keeped asking how fast my double trigger was shooting.
I kept explaining that my marker is a mechanical and not made for high ROF. haha
Well he was a funny guy and he was even funnier seeing on the field :)
All in all... Hilltop, VVulfe and a lot of other people said it... paintball is paintball... no matter what marker you have :)
We should all stick together and not fight over a single or double trigger
