Imagine how great it would be...

Now, i'll preface this by saying this was PURE speculation on the nation (of all places) and we know how....wishy washy....that place can be.

BUT! Following a press release from the PSP talking about changes to the upcoming season the R U M O R S are

    :Rumors are:
    Pro/Semi-Pro-12bps
    d1-d3 xball-10bps
    5-man-8bps

Good, people will be more relyant on tactics rather than preventing them (laning 24/7).

    ... if it goes there.

To be honest, I hope not. Especially not at the cap you showing.

Have to go through swapping and or reflashing all my boards again. It was a total PITA last time, and I think this cap is sufficent.

What about uncapped semi? Will that be permissible?

That's absolutely retarded. Shutting down a lane is an important tactic. You'd basically be turning the game into everyone just rushing up the field. There is such a thing as a middle ground and they've reached it with the 13.3bps cap. This would be swinging to the other extreme. 8bps for 5 man? Cmon, that's excessive. There are mechs that can shoot faster than that. Hell I can do 8bps with one finger on semi. Slow =/= more skill. Do you know how easy it will be to make moves when you're getting shot at with 8bps? A 500lb gorilla could dodge that.

Perhaps the PSP is seeing numbers dropping off and are trying to come up with ways to keep more people in the game.

If it means more people playing, I like it.

(Tom's words from the TechPB call-in might have sounded through the community, that the guns had always been beneath the player's skill level in the past, but the arms race took some of the skill from the game.)

Shooting fast and accurately is a skill. Ramping makes it easier. Get rid of ramping - period.

I don't know how your going to "keep them down on the farm" once you have let the firepower genie out of the bottle. 8BPS seems low even to me. And your right, what do you do when the mech's can outdo that??

If NPPL is out of business PSP must be feeling the heat too. People only make changes like that when they perceive doing so will improve things.

I think it should be uncapped and your limited by how much paint you can carry to feed your 50BPS supergun. And like I said, get rid of the back standups so there is no place to rain from.

I agree that limited paint may be the most "implementable" solution. By team.. maybe even by player. Could you imagine front players "handing off" paint to the back stand up players on the way by. Or the strategy involved if its limited paint by tournament (though this would be hard to enforce it would seem).

I think there are a lot of options to limiting paint that would create a strategy issue. You want to rain paint from the back stand up, no big deal, your going ot be out after the first two minutes. Are you going to be an aggressive team rushing in under that rain of paint in the first two mintues (or less) you can sustain it, a defensive team trying to stop that onslaught and then force forward, or somewhere in between?

Regardless, until you more effectively address the rampant cheating its probably a moot point.

imagine seeing a backman with a firemans tank on his back and some sort of backpack hopper that holds cases of paint.

THAT is exactly what we would see.

How about limiting the amount of paint pro players can carry with then into a game. They are 'pros', lets see them use it more intelligently.

I like the idea of suddenly being able to be competitive with a mech. but yeah 8bps is slow lol

                            yeah good point

Or just do as TK says and let them shoot as fast as they can and they will need so much paint on them, they will not even be able to run

if the mechs out shoot the capped electros, then does that mean there would be a swing in the market to the "new again" faster markers on the market?
