I believe that Simon Stevens invented the removable breech.

This is the big problem with why no-one has made more. To make one for yourself isnt a problem. only if your selling them. Also from a production machining standpoint it would be expensive & most people wouldnt buy them. Keep in mind the breechs have to mostlikly be very tight tolerances to avoid binding.

Dark Blade: your idea may work. Make sure you know where to cut as your descriptions of where you want to cut dont sound right. On a xmag the barrel holds the breech. You could possiblt use the body mount screw for this. I would also weld the body before ano. Find a way to do it so it wont show. Why spend the money on ano then chance cooking it off. Im talking real welding not JB Weld. Well in short youve got a very interesting idea.

What's wrong with just having 2 bodies? They way the mag is put together, it seems like a removable breech isn't very helpful. The body is already easy to remove, and considering all you have to do to go from a warped setup to a traditional hopper setup. It's not much more of a hassle to swap bodies. I mean if it's available, great. But I don't see the justification in cost to make something like this in small numbers when there already is both styles of bodies available and they are easily swappable.

          yeah that is another point.
You can just have 2 different bodies. And changing a body is not that long as stated by ta2maki.
But if you want to try to make one :) go ahead.
I just don't think you can make a whole bunch and sell them.. as per the patent.

ya good call on the patent thing. I think i will just make one for myself then.

However, my thought originally was that if AGD would make them for us they would definitely be cheaper than buying two bodies. Even if the body with 1 warp breech and 1 vert breech cost $350... thats still cheaper than 2 bodies... however, seeing as they cant make it and i know the person with the patent wont, i guess i am either going to be the only one with a X-tac body or no one will have one at all. :)

lets see what happens in the next few months
