Steampunk Mag build thread inspired by warwitch

Ok so i was cruising through the threads and came upon Warwitch's steampunk mask thread and became interested. I began looking at this steampunk thing and found i would like it for my next project. So i decided to keep you goes posted and get your input. So i am mostly using mag parts i got laying around. I decided to warp feed this thing also cause i figured that was the only way to go for a steampunk mag lol. I have a lot of watch gears on there way and have a 2" freak tip from white wolf on order just for this project. While the gun will be fully functional its just going to be a really pretty classic mag until i get a wild hair and decide to do something else to it LOL.
    Ok on to the pics.

The newly painted warp. The battery cpver and side plate covering the board are going to copper but i repainted them because i missed a spot.

The ULE left feed warp body.

    Classic valve.

The Rail that took damn near 3 days to get just the way i want it i will post more pics of it once it drys.

The hopper is going to have to do till i can figure out how to make one more suitable. Im going to paint the accents on the hopper copper or bronze.

the soon to be wood foregrip cause as Elemental put it it cant be steam punk without wood.

    Warp tube.

Im also going to be adding a Kapp groovy chroime frame with custom made grips. Still dont know what im gonna do about the drop or the ASA yet. Also going to add gears to the warp feed and put some gears in the trigger frame with clear grips. The foregrip is going to have a brass inlay on the bottom and brass rivets on the bottom. And the barrel is going to be brass

what shaped of foregrip? if you are going to turn it into a rod craft stores have oversized dowell rods. I have a yard section I was going to bore out for stock foregrips at one time but never was able todo it properly.

Next you need like 72 gauges with lights.

Seriously I can't wait to see how this goes!

Yeah im using a car paint clear coat over the paint to help it stand up a little better but this mag isnt going to see very much play. I will defintely use it but not that much

I'm really interested in seeing how this turns out.

Of cousre I'm not sure if copper colored paint can really be considered "steam punk" but I guess it will have to do.

Glad to see this thing is already coming together. We talked for about 2 hours about at the field. Have you decided on how you are going to do the rail? I still think gold-leaf (if you can find someone to do it) down the side would look good.

I know its not and thats exactly what i wanted to avoid but the paint is part of it. Im waiting on my lot of gears to come in before i start deciding what goes where and i just ordered a huge telescope that is going to be the scope im currently working on the wood fore grip. I even posted on the steampunk forums to get some expert opinions. Its going to be alot more than colored paint. Im hoping to have it ready by the FL meet on the 4th but i dunno. Im also in the market for a brass horn style candle stick to use as a barrel shroud if anyone knows where i can get one. The pictures are just what i got right now.

I didn't mean to rain on your parade at all.

especially with the gears on it. what are you doing for grip panels? cut pieces of tire. ohh...

Later on down the road if you want a more permanent paint job, look into powder coating.

Oh, and you were right. That grip frame does belong on there. It goes really well with the style.

for the barrel-- something with spikes maybe?

this is kinda hard to explain, but you know how you can take the seal from a water bottle and turn it inside out and it's all pointy? sometimes you can reverse that onto the cap or something... try and take one of those or so and put that on there, see what you come up with.

also might be cool to cut the tip of the barrel in an odd design..
