    Dye i4 for woodsball?

So, I know this mask is sort of synonymous with 'agglets' or whatever you want to call them but I've been looking for a new mask and to be honest, I can see the attraction:

    Very wide field of view
    Well ventilated
    Easy to replace lens

The thing that worries me with it is the lack of a fan - I run some old Dye invisions right now with the turbine fan and it definitely helps in muggy weather.

Are the Dye lenses now up to the point where they are anti-fog/thermal enough that a fan is unnecessary? Anyone else use this mask for woodsball and want to comment?

I'd appreciate any input I'm considering just replacing the (quite old) lens in my invisions and keeping them but it is such a pain in the butt to replace (always been at least a 1 hour ordeal for me in the past) that I'm quite tempted to just buy a whole new mask really.

Although I can't speak from personal experience, two guys I play with regularly have i4 masks and really like them. One of the last times out everyone BUT those two guys had fogging problems. There is a mixture of other high end masks in our group and the i4s came out way on top that day in anti fog capabilities. Impressive enough that it has me considering buying a set.

I have used Profilers, Grillz, Events and now Dye I-4's... I can say without a shadow of a doubt I would not give up my I-4's for anything... I live in the South where it's Hot and Humid as all get out and have yet to fog the I-4's... The 2 made by V-Force I would fog 30 minutes into the game,,, The Events would fog around an hour... I mainly play 24hrs Milsim Scenarios and maybe out of my mask 20 minutes or so every few hours...

Here is a Pic of me wearing my I-4's up at Living Legends 2 at CPX...

A pic of my Kit w/DYE I-4 (no I don't wear the helmet,,, it's just there for looks)

I painted the black areas of the I-4's using Krylon Fusion Camo in Khaki color...

        Hope this Helps

Alcohol is fine and won't kill the anno,,, stay away from mineral spirits and paint stripper...

Well yeah, I hear ya but I am more interested in the performance/reality of the product right now - I already know they are overpriced

I wear, stand by, support and all of the other crap that goes with it...
the V-Force Shield / Morph / Profiler any version of their masks that have the Spherical lens.
my personal choice is the Shield, it just fits me better and the extra neck protection is a plus.
these are the only masks I have ever felt safe in.

I love my jt's, wider range of vision than most masks i've seen, but they're spectras and apparently i'm not the only one that has a problem with the inner thermal lens cracking at the bridge of the nose. I might need to pick up some events.
Il n'y a point de sots si incommodes que ceux qui ont de l'esprit.

                          Unfortunately

Goggles aren't all created equally. I play last Saturday in 90 degree weather for about 4 hours. Never once did my i4's cause me a single issue. I can't say the same for any of the other 8 people who were playing. People were fogging up constantly, not the i4.

                          Advantages:
                          Never Fog
                          Easy to Breath
                          Can't really feel them
                          Wide range of vision.

                          Disadvantage:
                          Small.
                          Price

I've been hit right above my temple and in the jaw wearing the i4. It'll rock your head. It hurts.

I never had a google with a fan so maybe you can get away with that. THey had me sold after my first game with them.

Flaking adds character, makes it look like it's well used and well loved.

True enough. You're wearing these hours on end, they better be comfortable for you.

Unfortunately, mask recommendations don't always work from one person to the next. What's comfy for me might not be for you. I've also learned that what fogs for me may be fog-free for someone else. Case in point, I hate my Save Phace mask. Aside from the protection, which leaves half of my ears and jaw exposed, the lenses fog every time, even when it's 70* and dry out. I've tried using Fog-Tech on the normal lenses, I've tried their dual-pane lenses, it doesn't matter, that mask fogs for me. But I've got a lot of friends that swear by theirs and have no fog issues. I guess head shape determines how well it vents or something.

That said, I've never had problems with my V-Force Morph. The spherical lens gives me the best field of view out of any mask I've tried. I think the secret to its fog resistance is how far the lens sits from your face. The mask itself is very big and completely wraps behind my ears and down my jaw. The size does mean you won't get the tight profile that you will with an Empire or Dye mask though. I've just picked up a new Grill and will be trying that out. The visibility isn't as great as the Morph or Profiler, but it does sit much tighter to my face and gives me almost the same coverage. V-Force masks always have really easy lens replacement too and the Grill can switch out the foam as well. You might want to give V-Force a try and see if they work for you.
