AO: We are back from the dead... again! After an 18 day outage, we are finally alive and well. Who knew how complicated updating software/databases from 2008 would be. I still have alot of tweaks to make, but my main goal was getting everything patched and updated to 2026.
Vbulletin 6 has changed alot since 2008 so we will have a ton of new features to dig into.
Those lowers do go really good with that body and rail, nice.
There isn't a real cure by the way, 13 years of the sickness, and I'm not looking for a cure. It's like asking if you really want the H1N1 vaccine. I'll take my chances !!
There are definetely different stages of the disease though. Its actually more like an addiction.
First you have a taste = someone lets you borrow there e-karta. You go running around the field like a madman spraying paint.
Then you think. Hmm thats pretty good. I like that. Maybe I will upgrade my classic mag.
Next thing you do is start buying some small upgrades. Rt on/off. Double trigger frame. Make that trigger pull a little lighter.
It starts slow. A piece here and there. Next thing you know you have a fairly up'ed classic.
But now you have all these extra parts. First you think you can sell them.
So you sell a few pieces. That feels surprisingly good too. Well now you have some extra cash in your hand. Free money you think. Maybe its time to put some pneumatics in that double trigger frame you just got.
So now you start building a pneumag. But with the added fire power you realize maybe a barrel kit would be nice. You eye a cocker threaded barrel. Time to sell the classic body and get a ule.
So the cycle continues until you have a fully up'ed pneumag with all the bells and whistles.
But you still have the taste of that e-karta.
You do some quick math and realize maybe you can sell your pnuemag frame and buy some emag lowers for just a little bit more.
Once you find those now you need a new valve. May as well shed some weight and get an x valve.
Now you have over $700 into this mag. You have bought and sold a whole bunch of parts. Then a great deal comes up for a custom body. Sure you have to buy the whole mag. But you know you can sell the pieces you don't need.
Once you create your new master piece you realize you can build a second mag.
You convince yourself you should have a "loaner" for a friend.
Next thing you know you have a whole arsenal of markers. You think about all of them as members of the family. You are now a magaddict!
Then one day you make the horrible mistake of figuring out how much money you have invested into your collection. You hate yourself. You try to convince yourself to sell something. This will justify the other purchases. You have now hit rock bottom.
So you sell a few markers. Or maybe just a few pieces. But just as you think you are detoxing the addiction. A Xmag body comes up for sale. You already have lowers and a valve. All you need is the body to have an XMAG. You buy it without a second thought.
The only cure to stop buying every good deal you see on a mag is to buy every good deal you see on AKA's. This cure was discovered by our very own A-Tach-One.......

Which is great. Cause now the rest of us have a chance at the good mag deals...
+1 to Smoothice's explanation. I started with my 68AutoMag that I'd had since '96. Had a couple of upgrades, but for the most part it was stock. When I got back into paintball a couple of years ago I found AO to see if there was anything I could do to get my Mag up to snuff. Bad idea.
It started with an Intelliframe. "No big deal", I thought. I bought it from Cookies, and he asked me if I had a feedback thread so he could post. "Nah", I said, "this is really the only thing I'm going to buy, so feedback doesn't really matter."
A Level 10, pneumag kit, trade for an X-valve, Micro Body, ULE Body, Y-Frame, trade for another intelli, cheater, etc, etc, later, I've still got the disease. That doesn't even include the 5 Cockers and a Blazer I've also picked up along the way, or the Classic RT and another Classic Mag that I'm trading for this week.
If this is a sickness, I don't want to get better.
