I have a utility knife made by Sheffield. It also has a tool-less design, but it's a lever action deal that would get tripped if I wasn't careful cutting drywall

Is this a pushbutton? I do like the one handed opening knob on there.

I have had and do NOT like the Sheffield and the Husky ones. I don't care for that little lever action thingamabob as it was a PITA to get open and closed if it was too tight and then if you made it too loose it would just fall open and be another PITA!! Anyway, don't care for them, but that's my opinion.

I did take the one I got my bro apart the other day when we were running errands. It uses the tool/key that comes with the knife to change the blade out as the key to take the pivot pin out and then you just pull the blade mount and the 2 shim washers out and then you are left with your 2 slabs of AL with SMALL allen bolts holding them together with a spacer in between. Super simple design really.

I didn't take his all the way down to the slabs, but I did pull the blade mount out and cleaned it up and put it all back. It's still got super solid lock up after all of these years, and that to me is VERY impressive. If you knew my brother and how he is with stuff you would be as well.

I am not sure which direction I'll go just yet. I am hoping to be able to get everyone exactly what they want. Whether it's a color or the old or new. I know the handles are the same for both, so getting the logo done for either one should be the same, but getting 2 different logo's done would be too much to deal with and I don't see too many really caring about the AO logo as much as the AGD logo. I think it'd be uber cool to have a few other things done as well but let me get info from the companies to do this and I'll get updates out. I may have to buy and mail to the engraver, or I may be able to buy straight from someone who can engrave in house. I may have to mail out each one, or I may be able to find a company that will ship straight to you. All steps involve additional costs and I'm trying to cut as many of those out as possible.

Keep voting and letting me know, but please just stand by as I wait to hear back from the companies. I was going to find out the info and then post up about it, but I needed to gauge interest in the whole thing. That's why this is here.

Yea i have a Husky push button, and find i accidentally push the button often since it's right there.

Gerber makes some very nice knives tho, so hopefully these live up to it.

Yeah I just saw that one at HD today. I don't like it for 2 reasons. The button sticks out farther than the rest of the knife and if you try to use it as a thumbstud to open the knife you are actually pushing it in to change the blade. That coupled with the lock back. Don't get me wrong I used to LOVE lock back and would have nothing else. BUT I've found that liner locks are FAR easier to use with gloves, without gloves, they clean easier, the lock up just as solid and they are WAYYYY easier to do one handed. A lock back is next to impossible to close one handed.

WHEW!!!! I was starting to worry, thinking you had one of the Gerber SK's and you could get it to pop loose. I didn't really see how without trying, but wanted to know.

YAY!!!! Good, then I am all the more cool with this deal. Now to get the information from the companies. I am talking straight to Gerber for what it's worth. I am going to see if they can't just do a the logo in house to cut out a step in the process. I doubt that can happen, but I'm going to ask just the same.

If not them I'm checking with stores that do lasering and have asked them for some prices as to what it would cost per piece in the end and such.

YAY!!! Thank you Rudz!!! I can see how that type can lose the blades easy. I saw them today and didn't like the overall look of them.

Alright I got some information back from one of the companies, and have sent them some more info including the logo and what numbers of what colors I'm wanting. I'm waiting to hear back from them on what they can do.

I have a total count of 67 currently unless I missed some as I counted earlier in the day, so I may have. I'm shooting for an order of 75 initially and it's looking like I may be able to pull these off for $18 Shipped/PP'd each. I am not certain on that number just yet, because I would be the one mailing them out. I have to get them from the company and ship out to each person. That means I have to get envelopes and one fat sharpie! They would all be mailed with Delivery Confirmation as well.

I did send the list of ALL colors and numbers that people asked for. And YES WK2, I did change yours over for ya. I am waiting to hear back from them to see if they can do all colors and both old and new styles. I talked to the lady earlier and she said she would have to count how many of what colors they had in stock.

I know these can be bought cheaper online in places like Ebay and outlet stores. BUT, they won't be engraved for that price. I am really trying to get down to $15 mark, as the ones I am finding are about $10 shipped for 1 plain jane blue one or if you want to buy bulk you can get 5 of em for about $35 bones. The reason I'm putting this up is because I KNOW that you can get these cheaper. I've looked for them. I can't however find any other place as of yet that will do them engraved with a logo, and shipped individually to each person in the color of their choice for that price. I am still looking and waiting to hear back from some places, but you would think 3 days would be enough time. I am also going to see if I can't get them numbered. I will ask and see if the laser program can incrementally number each one. Figure it shouldn't cost any more and would be neat to know what number you end up with. NO! I am NOT accepting NUMBER REQUESTS!

What I need to know is if everyone (all 67 of you) are good with the $15-$18 range for an AGD Logo'd SK?

This will also be a prepay type deal. The simple reason is $18 X 75 is $1350.00 Even the low side of $15 X 75 is still $1125. If you don't like the idea of pre-paying for it, then that's fine. It just won't happen. Because I'm not willing nor able to float $1K+ out there just to make something without something more than just "I want one" put into it. Anyone who has ever done such a thing can fully understand that and knows where I'm coming from.

I will NOT be asking for payment before I get a sample of the work from them and posted up here. I will NOT be taking payment until I know they can be done to AO specs. I WILL be taking payment before I tell them to laser all 75 of em!

Cool? Not to be a grinch, but that's the way it's going to be. Now if some of you want to kick a few benjamins over to cover all of the others that "want one" because you have faith that they'll come through and pay you in the end, I'll be glad to take it and send the ones they want to you.

Anyway, that's the update, let me know what you all think.

Got ya man... did you vote on it? That's how I'm keeping track of the numbers. I'm trying to please everyone and well, we all know how that works!!! But I'm asking if it can be done. If it can't, then we'll see what options are left.

I'll take a final tally of what colors and numbers when it gets time to pay and order.
