Only way to ship internationally (except Canada) is USPS Global Express Guaranteed, which
is a partnership between USPS and FedEx.
It will get there in 3 days and the seller has a tracking number to provide to Paypal.
    But its very expensive.

this whole ordeal is the main reason i prefer not to ship outside of the US. Though i did sell some product to Motodrom16 it was agreed more so by me that i send it to one of his friends first in the states and he would send it on its way thus removing me from any responsibilty of him not receiving the merchandise. worked out well from where i stood.

I wonder if you could have the buyer sign something stating that once proof of shipping has occurred the seller is no longer responsible?

When I shipped to rudi I took a picture of the customs form I had to fill out, the receipt, and a picture of the package with his info on it.

I would happily draft a pdf document for future use in international shipping if it would protect me as a 'seller'.

The seller is responsible of a package lost and only him can start a case with USPS to gets a refund if insurance was purchased. Small parts someone could care less about it but if someone was to buy a couples hundreds dollar gun well insurance shoud be taken.

Same thing apply if I ship something with Canada Post only me get start the package lost case.

In my industry, shipping liabilities are a big issue. There are whole documents listing out the various terms of shipping methods including when ownership and responsibility shift. However these are dealing with tens of thousands of dollars worth of equipment (minimum).

In our low dollar transactions (relatively anyway) we have far less control. Honestly the only thing the seller can do is ensure that the item is packaged well, addressed properly, and has all the appropriate forms and postage.

Once it's out of the sellers physical possession, it's out of his control.

Can you really hold the seller liable if UPS drops the box off the back of the truck and it gets run over? Or if it's left on the buyer's door step and is stolen, can he control that?

              This is true ^^^

It's amazing how you can ship somethine to Maine in 3 days , but to send it to New Brunswick it takes 3 weeks ( just over the border )

I've shipped to Europe a few times and never had a problem

A lot of folks cry about our mail system TILL they have to deal with the rest of the worlds , IMO our is the best

Guy's, just a suggestion from someone who doesn't want you guy's to stop shipping to Europe
(I have a ton of Mags I need keeping in parts!) Get the buyer to send payment as a gift or as money owed through paypal. That way, if it goes wrong, it's the buyers problem.
It sucks, but we all know the risks and if you guy's stop sending, we're in a bigger mess anyway!

Thats actually not a bad idea if the item is low in value.
If its a full marker probably better bite the bullet and pay for the high dollar
USPS Global Express Guaranteed shipping though. (I probably would as a buyer)
And FedEx (USPS partner in International shipping) seems to blast packages thru customs quicker,
although its always better to dismantle full markers before shipping.

And on shipping to Canada, if you ship the item USPS Priority Mail, declare it as toy
or machine parts and dismantle full markers, it :
                  1) doesnt seem to get hung up in customs
                  2) can be tracked @ Canadapost.ca by using the number on the customs form
(so dont buy the delivery confirmation, it stops at the border anyways)

That can come back to bite you in the butt, especially when using USPS. I once shipped an item to a person in Canada as a gift at his request, was told didn't arrive, and had to give my tracking details to PayPal in a dispute. They said items called "gifts" on the custom forms weren't valid, because I was either committing mail fraud (illegal and punishable) or I was sending a gift which couldn't be the item that was paid for. Basically they said I'd either have to submit to their findings without the evidence that my package had shipped/been delivered, or they'd report me for mail fraud.

Long story short the guy got my marker and a good amount of his money back, and still does business on the forums.

I was referring to Europe with that comment, as long as the buyer sends the Paypal as a gift and is ok in taking the loss rather than paying for the high priced shipping for a low value item.

In Canada I recommended USPS Priority Mail and the number on the customs form can be tracked both on USPS tracking and on Canadapost.ca even though the Postal employees will tell you the package cannot be tracked online.
They either dont know (which is possible) or they are told to sell the high priced USPS/FedEx shipping.

How about letting everyone in on what the Canucks forum nickname is that ripped you off so we can avoid him ?

Lips are sealed; every time I bring it up I take crap for it, and apparently even though he's posted pictures of it on other forums PayPal says I'm the bad guy. The guy has screwed other people but lately he has been better and apparently has a following of customers both here and in Canada... Better to let it die like I did a while back.
