    Automag 15* Asa

Trying to gauge interest in a short run of automag 15* asa with wings, single bolt, double air hole to either side fittings. Would come anodized (type 2) with 1-mount bolt and 1-npt 1/8" plug. I had a machine shop give me a quote and it looks like they could be had for $30 plus a nominal shipping charge. Most would be gloss black, some dust and I could leave a few raw.

I know RPG makes awesome parts but I guess I just appreciate the wings which he no longer makes. Would there be any interest at that price point?

    Appreciate your time.

I think Doc's still makes them, but they come raw polished. I'd take two in Gloss Black if someone were to offer them already anodized.

Whether it has wings or not, RPG's latest 15 degree asa will work on RT Pro and Automag/Minimag rails.

I'm with the OP though. I like the look of the ASA with wings on AM/MM rails.

How do you get the RPG to align properly with only a single bolt and a flat top on the asa? Seems like you have to torque extra hard on the bolt to minimize the possibility of it slipping to the side if you give it a good rap.

I'm just trying to fill a specific niche. If you don't want the wings I would go with the RPG.

Appreciate everyones comments and insight. Thanks.

Just another thought that might be worth thinking about in a niche part like this - how about only drilling an air port hole on one side of the ASA? I don't know about others here, but I'm not a huge fan of port plugs and avoid them if I can from a functional standpoint, and I think it may be an attractive option for some from an aesthetic view as well.

Put a gauge in there. Can't have enough gauges!

Gimmie my 2 ports for pneumagging!

I'd love to see more options open up, and I don't believe $30 is too bad of a price.

While we are here, would you take input on other possible designs? I have an interesting -5* ASA I'd love to see made.

More choices is always good. I have no plans to make them with wings again, so this would be a great option for those wanting them. The price isnt bad either.

Since I wont be buying one, I did not vote. Good luck with the project.

Thanks Rogue, I especially didn't want to step on your toes.

As for other angles I'm willing to listen but it has to have some mass appeal. If we are just talking about some 1 offs, what I may have done is have several more made with this lot that don't have the wings made and I can see about milling them myself at whatever angle you want but I am going to have to look into it. I don't have all the tooling necessary to produce custom ones otherwise I probably wouldn't have started this thread, I just would have made what I needed and called it a day. Shoot me your idea via PM. Thanks for the input!

not sure if it's possible, but could these be made shorter than standard vert and RPG asa's?

a few of us have used Kapp 15* Angel asa's for mounting foregrips and they have a really nice short profile but unfortunately cannot hold air due to their design

I like Twilight's idea. I would like to see the shortest possible way to mount a fore grip, I don't care about it holding air.

I definitely want mine to be able to be used as a gas through. Shorter would be awesome though.

I'm trying to shrink it down as much as possible. The trick is that the center mounting hole means that it is either offset to miss the 1/8 NPT air hole or you have to extend the asa to get enough clearance. Probably why later version asa's went with the 2 holes that could straddle the air hole. Right now the piece is about 1.85", May be able to shave a little more off that depending on mounting bolt length and minimum threads needed to hold the ASA without stripping. Probably need a good 4-6 full threads to not strip it when it is tightened.

Once I can correctly draw the bottle (large) threads (it is driving me crazy) I will post up some design pictures.

                            All good thoughts. Thanks guys.

If it's possible maybe we could have the option of have another port added in the front to be able to run a LPR.
