Freak kit because I got one with an Angel I bought, then bought a Cocker-back so they share the inserts. Empire 4 piece kits are nice but way too long.

        my ideal kit..

.. would be a 3 piece barrel system.

10 inch unported control bore. good and efficient. .678, .684, and .691 (for the overborers) should be a good-enough spread.

The next section is .694 and is ported. This section is determines the overall length of the barrel and the sound signature. It is stepped up in bore because at this point the ball is done accelerating (air is venting out the ports anyway) and therefore we want no friction. Available in 2", 4", 6" sections so everyone can get their desired length and quietness. (maybe do unported sections if you like it loud).

The last section is just a tip. Something plain like the Dye muzzle brake for the speedball crowd, up to the super-fancy realistic looking ones for the Mil-sim'ers. Then of course an Apex tip because it's fun.

I would also like to make the threads on the second and third portions the same, so you could run without the second section if you want.

Since this doesn't exist, the closest thing I have found is a 10" Lapco Assault barrel in .684 bore (AC threaded). Lapco honing is second to none, so that's a bonus. This is my current barrel of choice.

Dude, you basically described a FLASC kit. It's a 9" unported control bore with a 3" or 5" extension (unported, single or double ported), followed by a series of tip choices, including milsim, plain-jane, and apex. All the threads are the same so that you can run with any size over 9".

I use a furious barrel with an ifit kit and too me that's a great combo. I am contemplating on getting a j&j edge kit to try out I really like the look and for the price you get a good bore selection and tip length selection

I just picked up one of the new J&J Edge kits - pretty nice barrels, I wish the backs were a little longer as the 4" control bore does seem to lose some efficiency, accuracy and range dont seem to be noticeably hindered compared to the 7 inch backs I had on my Disruptive kit.

I had a custom kit made a few years back that was actually the Full Tilt backs which were 6 inches and I regret selling that off to this day as it was the best shooting kit I ever had.

DW is a nice carbon fiber barrel, but I honestly didnt care for how light it was, I wanted a little more heft on the front of my Mini because the DW was so light I felt like I had more barrel rise when I shot..

Kaner is a good solid barrel, nice control bores, and you cant really go wrong with them ( hence the reason they rarely come up used for sale )

                      I use:
                      A evil pipe kit
                      a Phat pro kit
                      and an Empire kit

all have a longer control bore
                      and work just fine
my choice generally comes down to looks between the 3 as certain barrels look better on certain markers

I was turned on to their barrels just last winter, though Wolf did a YouTube Review on the kit at Living Legends 3 last year. I just contacted them and ordered a custom kit last week (dropped pieces I didn't need, added tips I wanted). It will ship sometime this or next week - autococker .684 bore is backordered - and I should have it within a few days after that. I'm stoked. This is my first barrel kit and it's exactly what I was looking for after doing the research, like you described.

Before ordering this I had just used stock barrels (A5, stock Tac One) except for a short stint with a 10" Lapco Bigshot Assault .690. I did get a chance to try out Ochsy's Kaner kit and it was awesome as well. The only knock I had on it was that it didn't have a threaded tip. Yeah, I know that's just cosmetics. But I have my machinist cousin working on some custom tips for me.
