What do you mean Hack? I thought it turned out pretty good. The groove was turned on a lathe. My original intent was to hope that it would slow the bolt down a bit and seal the chamber off to eliminate blow back. This was actually a superbolt for a regular mag and had a smaller diameter than the standard .700 sb for the sfl. I beveled the leading edge and even made the diameter a little smaller. It seals great and when having 4-5 balls in a stack, none of them move upwards, and no air is felt from the feed tube when fired. I have no way of measuring bolt speed. Anyway, I was just toying around with the extra superbolt, and seems I have heard people on here ask about putting an o-ring on the tip of the bolt. Well....now it has been done!!

I want to know about the durability of that bolt. So keep in touch. Superbolts have cracking problems to begin with, taking off more plastic would most likely weaken the integrity of the bolt. The reason why the superbolt has the increased diameter in the front to begin with was to do exactly what you describe. So what you did was replaced the delrin seal "ring" with a rubber seal "ring"

              Butterfingers,
I put about 1200 rounds through it today, bolt is looking healthier than ever. No barrel breaks, chops or problems of any kind. Knocking on wood right now! Oh also, this superbolt was originally to small for my breach, so the raised delrin didn't seal the breach off in the first place.

Load, No I wasn't breaking paint before this mod, unless I would come across some paint that breaks from shin high on the first drop(bounce test).

Just had and extra sb laying around and I wanted to see if it would work and what type of results would happen.

to manuel FZR it isn't a true "closed bolt" because it isn't closed at the time before firing

                            Interesting...

I was looking at my superbolt the other day and noticed a groove wearing in the area where you put the o-ring. Seems to have worn in to match the body and barrel. Works fine still.

That'd be cool. If someone had access to a lathe, it wouldn't be too hard to do.

                              Has Tom thought of this?
