No it wasn't. They made quite a few mid-rise bodies like that...

it can, but it's a lot of work to polish a stainless steel body. frankly i'd leave it as-is, and buy a nice clamping feed neck for it, if you don't already have one.Originally posted by keiko_819 View PostThanks, should make for a couple nice 'classic' builds...on another note, what are my options for finishing the minimag body other than powder coat. Can the gray be polished off?

The gray is just a bead blasted finish. You can polish it to a nice mirror finish with a bit of elbow grease. Wet sanding works best. Start with a 320 grit paper to sand out the bead finish, and then go to 600, followed by 1500 grit. If you want, you can even go one step farther with 3000 grit. After the 1500 or 3000 grit paper, apply a polishing compound and buff it with a cloth. You'll have a mirror finish. I did one and it looked better than the factory polished body I had, so I polished the factory shine and made it even better.Originally posted by keiko_819 View PostThanks, should make for a couple nice 'classic' builds...on another note, what are my options for finishing the minimag body other than powder coat.
