how much does the length of the barrel effect the accuracy of the ball?.... im debating between a 12 and a 14....would 2" make any diff.? what would u get?
barrel length

accuacy is within the first few inches of the barrel
the next half or so determins how the ball will shoot, shorter barrels and longer barrels will shoot basically the same accuarcy wise

it's not the length of the barrel that affects accuracy, it's the match of the paint to the barrel's bore size. there are a bunch of threads about this. if you want more info, you can use the search featureEmag Black ULE(Xvalve)

well length determins how the ball will shoot, for example if your playing a hyperball field and you putting your barrel in a groove, and its 12 inches, your shots are going to go funny because the porting is affected, and a lionger barrel will not because the porting is past the bunker
but length is more of a preference i believe, i dont notice any difference in a 16 in than a 12

I think it really depends on where you play. When I play speedball, I like a good short barrel, like the 10" Dye Stainless I have. When I play in the woods, I like a 12 or 14". It's not that big of difference. I think a 16 or 18" inch barrel is both ridiculous and a burden. If you only buy one barrel for wherever you play, I'd go with a 12". The accuracy is nearly the same on the 6" venturi to the 14" carbon fiber I have when the paint matches bores equally. The noise and effiency is another thing.http://www.digitalpaintball.net - I love this game!

Longer barrels are also less efficient.

I'm guessin you haven't read the tech tips yet huh?Originally posted by epterry
foo I think your wrong. in longer barrels the air has more time to push the ball so you wouldnt need to put as much air behind the ball. I know longer barrles dont use as much air as short barrels cause i did a test.

he says best efficient leingth from brech to porting is 8 to 10 in. the 12in. barrel i have is only efftive for 6 1/2 in do to porting so i need a longer than 12 inch barrel to reach maximun efficience so but at some point your right. if useing a crown point you dont need a long barrel.

my test was that i took a rely short barrel 3in before porting gased up the marker fired 5 balls over a crono all around 255fps next with out degasing the gun i put on a same sized bore same paint 12in barrel fired 5 balls all came out at about 305fps notice same amount of gas behind each ball
