    $100.00 !?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?

    Hello all,

Since I'm being a post whore tonight I have a small gripe. I have been looking for a field to call my own lately. Its really hard since I work the weekends. But in my internet travels I noticed that many fields require field paint. Now I really don't have a problem with buying paint at the site (land is really expensive in Jersey), but 100 dollars a case?!?!?!?!?! I mean really, I started playing paintball 4 years ago (stopped for a long time, picking it up again, very excited) and there was only 3 or 4 companies making paint and it was up to about 80 a case. Now there are like 10 times as many companies making paint and the prices have really come down. Why is field paint still 100 bucks? Seriously, it is a real downer to pay 20 to 30 dollars to play and have to shell out another 100 for paint.

There's a field around here that's $125 a case, I believe...FPO too. Don't know how they stay in business - I've never been there and can't see going either.

        know what you mean...

I was shocked at the price of paint on the East coast. I was looking into playing on the weekend in PA. $30 Field Fee, $50-something for 1000 rds paint... Probably would cost me $90 with air not including lunch, gas, ect...

Taken from the webpage of a local field:

          RENTAL EQUIPMENT & PLAYING COSTS

          WITH RENTAL EQUIPMENT - $45.00
          4 Hours of game play
          Tippman "Pro-Lite" Semi-automatic paintball gun
          Free CO2
          Complete soft-armor head cover
"Vents" goggles with no-fog thermal lens
          Elbow and knee pads
          150 premium paintballs

          WITHOUT RENTAL EQUIPMENT - $20.00
          4 Hours of game play
          Elbow and knee pads

          PAINT COSTS
          50 Rounds - $5.00
          100 Rounds - $9.00
          250 Rounds - $22.00
          500 Rounds - $42.00
          1000 Rounds - $75.00
          2000 Rounds - $130.00

Please note that you MUST USE OUR PAINT when playing at The Paintball Arena. The reason is very simple; our referees will only call players out with one color paint - ours. Our paint is specially made and colored for The Paintball Arena. Even if you can locate paint that is the same color, it will NOT BE ALLOWED.

NO AUTOMATIC / ELECTRIC WEAPONS allowed. This includes, but is not limited to: Shockers, Angels, Rainmakers etc. Automatic / Electric weapons are classified as guns that release more than one ball per trigger pull. Even guns that "lock out" of automatic mode or have "select fire" are NOT allowed.

          ---------
Now how do they stay in business?

Added- Before anyone asks, the prices are in US dollars.

Ryno: you are probably talking about Canobie Paintball in Windham, NH. They charge $105/case for non members. If you buy a season pass for $100, your admission fee ($15) is waived everytime you come and the paint price is reduced to $65/case. Generally fields have high paint prices for non members and reduced prices and admission for members. If you plan on playing a lot at one field, a season pass makes a lot of sense, at least around here anyway. My $.02.

yeah I didn't count the cost for fills and food for a day at the field. But if you add it all up $20 fee 3x4=12 fills $100 for paint and say 20 bucks for food and drinks during the day that I over 150 a day and that is the average!!!!!!! that is a new Minimag every 2 and a half days!!!!!!!! i didn't consider a membership, I wonder if there is a field in Jersey that does that??????

You won't catch me playing at the Arena (Pontiac) again, WAAY to expensive, and the last couple times I was there the reffing positively sucked... they put their entire "home team" on one side, and all the walk ons and newbies on the other. Guess who had fun that day?

I'm loving all the big games this summer near me that are BYOP... nothin better than buying half a case to last me all day... :)

Thier is a couple of places in South Jersy that are only like $20 to $30 dollers to play. One called Picasso lake and thats in Winslow and On Target Sports in Pemberton. They are both BYOP(bring your own paint). The paintball store I work at (Ben and Mollies in Berlin) sell cases of Team Colors for $54.99 so paintball don't have to cost that much. On Target Sports is open on a Wedsday and the weekends.

but i say that if i keeps the fields open, i will pay it, it better be high quality, but i would pay it,

i know that a local field where i use to live was byop and the field was crappy and he lost money all the time, BUT if he changed to field paint and charged 75 bucks, he could have afforeded the air ball field he wanted

i say that if you want a nice local field then pay for it, i have a job thats what i use the money for, i know alot of people dont have jobs and i dont know what to tell you, its just that i dont mind paying if i knwo im gonna have a good day with a nice non-rocky field and decent paint commin out my barrel

I just played at a field a little farther away than the one I usually go to and was highly impressed. The staff was very professional and friendly. Good fields and pretty good prices, case of the nitroduck paint (hadnt ever used any, but it shot pretty good) was $65 and the guy gave us our air for free! I will definitely be going back.

that nitro duck paint is pretty decent, the winter fill hurts like heck but the regular fill makes for some good shootin

and the price is nice (yes yes im a poet)
