This is something ive wanted to ask people.....have they ever seen a video (or in person) of a tourney player get really mad about something, and then *throw* thier marker onto the ground? The marker usually being a highend cocker or angel.
Now i know the marker is probably sponsored so they didnt pay for it.
But personally i think it makes people who could never dream of affording such a nice marker (like myself) sick when watching something like that. I guess i was just raised to respect what ever tool I am using, be it a screwdriver, paintball marker, or firearm...

I wonder if professional pistol shooters throw thier .45 race guns into the mud when they lose......i doubt it.

Oh well...this is just one thing in my long list of gripes about paintball. :P

Whoever their sponsors are should drop them. If the people I'm spending good money on, seem to think that they can throw MY reputation in the dirt, then they will no longer be associated with me. I want clean playing, honest representation, not a 4 year having a tizzy.

I know i saw a video somewhere of a tourney player doing it...but i cant remember what site...

In the June 2002 APG there is a wrtten account of Ron Kilbourne of the Bushwhackers....i quote "Kilbourne threw his marker into the mud. He picked it up and headed for the dead box."
Now if you read the whole article you see why he is so pissed. But still I would never be that angry to abuse my marker.

I've seen it in person. This kid was very angry with his Angel chopping paint. He looked and acted like a baby. What I don't like is people who argue with the refs. It just doesn't matter that much.

I witnessed a kid (about 16, so that's a kid in my book) throw his Spyder/Tippmann/whatever $125 gun he was using on the table after getting beat at a 3 man tourney. I laughed out loud in his general direction when I saw that, 'cause with such solid no-frills technology, he was probably taking out his frusteration on the gun. Come to think of it, it probably wasn't a Tippmann, because it didn't break the table!

This is not all that uncommon, but you need to remember that someone is always there to witness it.

I recall when I was just starting out, back in '91 or '92 we were at the Internation Amateur Open near Pittsburgh. I wasn't even playing on the tournament team - just assisting. Our team was in the process of transitioning from pumps to this revolutionary new gun called an AutoMag. HPA hadn't been invented, and nobody even knew most of the tricks for keeping them running happy on CO2 (no expansion chambers or anti-siphons, etc.).

We were playing what we considered a crucial game and we gave a key player an AutoMag that one of our players had just purchased at the vendor tent, even though he had never used one before. He had all kinds of problems during the game, got eliminated, came out and shot very hot over the chrono, earning us penalty points. He cleared the google-on area, threw his goggles one way, and the AutoMag the other. It bounced twice before coming to rest with the barrel stuck in the mud, very close to the feet of an interested bystander. The player's name I wont mention. The bystander was Tom Kaye...

wow, nice story about the IAO. Throwing $450 in the mud back then i dont understand. It suprises me. But i suppose, now people throw $1000 markers.

The story is simple and not that exciting but it was INCREDIBLY well written. Good job!

Watch the video/DVD "Push"...there are two different shots of pro players throwing markers...I never judge someones temper tantrums because i've been there before, so whatever floats your boat...

...I do no one thing...if a pro wants to throw his 2500 marker on the ground cause it ain't working right...I'll take it!!!!

Ah Barry :) The good old Am Open 93. Or was that mix of 92 with the 2 guns chronoing at 365+ and 93 when ah Mr J wouldnt spend the $40 on a slide check and expantion chamber like I told him to ?

To be very honest, I have thrown my equipment in anger, at myself at my team and at the actions of other people. I am what at best could be described as an emotional player, I play with every intend on winning. I also internalize a lot of my anger which has over the last 10 years caused me to have ulcers :/

Now when I get to the point where I cant contain it I vent. Then I am done. There was a rather public diplay at a team pratice where 2 of my teams only job was to make sure I didnt get bunkered. Well I got bunkered and tore the F up. Ok I start walking off the field hand up and someone on the other team started bonus balling the living crap out of me. I took no less than 20+ shots to back of my head/neck area. I snapped and picthed my gun, vs going and beating the daylights out of the a hole that was bonus balling me.

The people watching just some someone yell and see the gun go flying 20ft over the netting into a tree. It looked bad for me and it looked bad in general but you dont always know what is going on when that happens.

Remember there are always 2 sides to every story and 1 differnt story for every set of eyes that saw it.

i will never throw a gun, i would never allow someone on my team to throw theirs. If someone is that poor at controling themselves, i do not want to be associated with them. i wouldnt put it past them to cheat if they threw their stuff. And if they cheated while on my team, id have to kick their *** and kick them off the team. I like tom kaye, hes the man, but i found that story to be great about the mag bouncing to his feet.

on a side note, ive never seen anyg un get thrown besides an angel. interesting isnt it.

The only thing I ever threw ...

... was an insult. My friends and I were playing on private property, and we were in a staging area of sorts. Well, one of my friends was de-gassing his Spyder (by simultaneously removing the tank, and pulling the trigger), and apparently, there was a paintball in the hopper, and enough CO2 to fire it (after it finally ended up in the breach). Suffice to say, when it hit me in the knee, I was more than a little irked. All I did was tell him he was a ******* idiot for not making sure to secure his marker. Did I want to do more? Yes. I really wanted to throw HIM (into the water by where we were playing). Oh well.

I understand there are 2 sides to everything.
I want to know what you did about the bonus ball situation.
I wouldn't have let that go for the life of me.
That person would have been one very sad individual when I was done with them. There would be no physical incursion likely, but there has to have been an official who saw that!
