I have owned 6 markers over the years. If you want something that is easy on matinance the mag is the way to go. My 5 year old brother can do it. And yes it is that easy. there is really nothing to a mag.
Just remember your moms credit card can't but you talent.

I would go mag myself with level 10. Mags are very reliable and the customer service at AGD is the best. Im sure most of you guys out there will agree with me. The Mag is affordable and upgrades are infinate. The only other markers that compare are the impulse, cocker, and bushmaster but the mag is way cheaper. The mag is also very easy to keep. The cocker is complicated for new users and the impulse requires some upgrades to really be a great marker. The bushy is a great buy but I have heard ICD's customer service sucks. Im just saying what Ive heard.

If you were going to spend around 600 bucks i would go RT pro or Nasty Impulse. Both of these guns are great. Two of the best buys on the market today. The nasty is faster but the RT has an AGD tech standing behind it. These are close matches. I would have to flip a coin.

If you ever step up to an upper end electro go EMAG W/LX. Awsome marker. Just ask around.

go buy a used mag, even if you have to replace every single oring, it's cheaper than new, and will perform the same.

                  Well...

My "tournament" gun for a while was a Bushmaster, and is now an E-Mag. I wouldn't give up my E-Mag for anything.

That said, when it came to buying my gf a gun for christmas, I got her a BKO. She plays local tournaments (actually, I think she's played more tournaments in the past year than I have), but she doesn't shoot 13+ BPS either. The BKO at $300 will do everything she needs it to do out of the box, will have the trigger pull she likes, and won't have the chop problems my old 68 mag plagued me with. BKO + Compressed Air Preset = perfectly functional marker.

Oh, and it comes in purple.

The second you start talking about spending money on upgrades to the gun, you might as well just buy an Impulse instead - or if you're going to be upgrading that, get an E-Mag or Angel or whatever suits your tastes.

While I consider the Automag to be the premier Rec ball marker on the market, and the RT Pro and E-Mag are worthy Tournament Markers, if you are buying new, for a newbie, go for the BKO. And here's why:

                    1. With the BKO, it's add bottomline, air, and a Revvy. With the Mag, you need to build a gun, or go hunting for a package like the TKO. You can even dump rediculous amounts of paint with the BKO without any upgrades beyond a 12V, the Mag will need at least a Intelliframe and preferrably a ReTrovalve to match the ease of laying paint of the BKO.

                    2. No learning the trigger. Some people just don't grok the Mag's trigger, anybody can shoot the BKO reasonably fast.

                    3. Resale value. We all know the bottom has dropped out of the market for used non-RT mags. I payed $800CDN for mine, I'd be lucky to get $350 for it now, and that's with Level 10 and 4 extra barrels. So for the Newbie who may not stick with Paintball, he'll get more of his investment back with the BKO.

                    4. The BKO is pretty. The Mag just isn't the prettiest gun out there, out of the box.

I would say automag but automags need quite some cash put into them before they shoot good. BKO has Double Trigger stock, , its electro so no short stroking, a nice reg and barrel. Just get a drop, nitro and revvy and your set to go. Plus it has nice milling and anno. If you were going to get a mag i would only recommend it if you were going to fork the cash into it cause i preferably dont consider mags too good stock.

Get the bko because to make a classic a good tourney marker you need to replace everything except the body rail. its true that you only need a few upgrades, but those are 1. grip frame 2. powerfeed or no rise 3. barrel 4. retro. nothing left from your origional gun except the rail.

I voted for the mag, but really you should probably go with the bushmaster as a beginner. Mags are notoriously paint-blenders. HOWEVER, if you get a LX superbolt, then use the bushmaster for an entrenching tool (hehehe - JK) and use the mag for playing paintball!!
