What it can do is reduce shootdown, basicly by acting as a low pressure chamber. It may not help a lot, but it will help a bit.

Honestly, with a mag, if you're running Nitro, unless you have a realy bad reg on your tank, you shouldn't need a reg between your tank and your valve.

Remember- the Mag has an internal reg. The reg on an N2 tank has a regulator as well. DO NOT add another reg in bewteen. You risk starving the gun.

I will change guns if I have too, but I will not carry less paint..

if you play tournys you will understand why...

it's not so much that shooting a case of paint will get you more or less hits a game... then shooting half a case..

if you have more paint in the air, then the guys you are playing have to stay behind their bunkers longer, have to stay tighter, which allows your team mates to move up field.. ...

I need to get to a point where my EMAG is a GOOD tourny gun.. one I don't have to mess with inbetween games cause of leaks.... one I can just wipe off, and gas up for the next game... even if i shoot a hopper and 20 pods!

I run through 5 pods and a hopper ALL THE TIME with my Level 10 'Mag and I am only using a 68/3K tank. Perhaps something is amiss with your setup?

I have TWO full LX sets.. .so unless the bolt is messed up on both of them it's not the bolt..

I have used every match up I can think of...

and still leaks down the barrel..

I had it set Saturday, 1.5 carrier, 1 shem, med springs.. and it clocked in at 276,277,276 *we had to shoot under 280

two cases later... small vent down the barrel...
200 rounds later, big vent down the barrel...

and then I packed it up.. .

I know this is a bit off topic but mine was doing the exact same thing. No matter what I did it would still leak after about 500 shots. I went from the 1.5 carrier with the medium spring to the 0 carrier with the short spring in less than 2000 shots. Not to mention each time I had to move down carriers I couldn't get the shims set up right so that it would vent when it stopped on a ball. It turns out the piston on the bolt was off. I'd try to get a hold of a set of calipers and measure from the tip of the bolt to the end of the piston and see what the length it is. If i remeber correctly the length is supposed to be 2.01" . I would really check it and save yourself the frustration.

I've been using a 47/3000 on my RT. I get roughly 650-700 rounds. I've been playing with this setup for over 5 years, and yes I have run out of air on occasion, and I do hate having to make the long walk back to fill station.

However what I have found using this setup is that it makes me concentrate on getting better shots. Paint is expensive, and I would rather make my RT more accurate rather than worrying about how much gas I am using. This is one of the reasons I have still haven't gotten the E-Mag. Sure it shots faster, but what good does laying down 100 rounds really fast mean if you can't hit anything??

Time to jump in.

I've seen a lot of ideas thrown on the table, the best comment I've seen so far is Phil's post on operating pressure.

Why does the RT/Emag valve use all my air if peak pressure is under 80psi? It doesnt, the problem is the marker complains once your tank pressure drops too far below 800psi.

Why do other markers get more shots per fill? Markers use air in combination with air pressure on the ball and operating pressure. As mentioned before, a cockers peak pressure is among the highest out there but what makes it last longer? Well since it's operating pressure can get as low as 30psi, the input needed to cycle the marker is only around 300psi(if you know what your doing you can get it down to about 165psi). This means that markers like the cocker use more air per shot but the tank lasts longer because the marker doesnt complain till the tank is almost empty.

How many shots should I expect to get off my tank? What is normal?

In testing with AGD we've noticed that even with the level 10 on an RT valve, you can still get some very decent numbers(nothing worse than 5-10%drop). These numbers are for properly tuned markers. If your not getting results close to this then something is wrong and if you can't troubleshoot the marker, send it to the factory or someone who can(like myself:)). I strongly believe that it is wrong to hold the issues one(talking about anyone who would do so) is having against the company that made the product if you did not give them a chance(or someone who is qualified) to fix it, that is what customer service is for.

Taken from another post of mine. These are average numbers on a RT/Emag valve with a tuned level 10 on a 4500psi tank.

45ci leads to around 800 shots
which is a revy and a little over 4 pods.

68ci should give you about 1,200 shots
that's a revy and a little over 7 pods. that's pretty darn good for a 68/4500. Most mid/front players dont take more than 7 pods out on the field.

back players do and back players dont use 68ci tanks. More like a 88ci or 114ci.

88ci leads to around 1550 shots
which is a revy and almost 9 pods.

114ci leads to around 2000 shots
which is a revy and almost 13 pods.

Again, these are average numbers found in testing. You should have a good paint/barrel match and a reasonable input pressure. Dont follow the dumb formula of 68* 10 on a 3000psi tank and *15 on a 4500psi tank, that does not apply to most markers. Your level 10 should be set once broken in, if it's not then something is not being done properly, and shouldnt be blamed on the marker itself because as with most marker problems, it's probably user error. Send it to be tuned.

As stated by mxracer, yes - if I try and tune a marker especially for efficiency I can get about a hopper and 10-12 pods off a 68/4500 but consistency suffers under high ROF. Just follow the ci chart, for the tank front/mid/back players use, the amount of paint taken is pretty much relative.

It Really pains me to see people unhappy with thier Gear, ESPECIALLY AGD gear. If cockers did nothing but break down then no one would buy one. If a level 10 did nothing but leak, then AGD would have never released it. Not all people can stripdown/troubleshoot thier own marker, it's no biggie. But if anyone is having trouble with thier AGD gear, send it in, that's what the service is for! If your worried about turn around time, send it to me! I can go through 30 guns a day easy(I repair gear for AGD from my home and at various paintball stores/events). I just hate to see people frown on AGD gear over very minor issues. Once things are tuned, all you have to do is put 2-3 drops of oil into that asa once a day of play and your good to go, no worries!

I was able to get over 500 shots on a 2000 psi fill (68 ci tank). Since it was at about 450-500 psi when it refused to fire that's about 1500 psi. So, I'm using about 3 psi per shot. I should get another 300 shots from the additional 1000 psi for a total of 800+ shots on a 3k tank. Sounds good to me.

BTW, I am using the stock emag barrel. NO PORTING. Porting = wasted air.

Boomer, I noticed you said you were using the longest spring. You should consider dropping down to a shorter spring, perhaps?

For better efficiency going with the shortest spring is going to be your best bet if your really worried about it. What I am worried about is that if I have to use the 0 carrier to make my marker not leak, what if it leaks one day because of the carrier? there is not negative carriers :) hehe hmmm

I am kinda the same boat as boomer of late. I have shifted to being a back player and my 68 4500 isnt cutting the mustard. I dont really blame the gun or anything else I just need a bigger tank.

I have started some of my own testing, and being cold as hell here its going to take a littl while to collect the info I need BUT as of last weekend I had a full 68 4500 and full 7 pod harness for pratice, 800 shots into the game _no gun- out of air. Now this same gun w/o level 10 was getting 13-1400 shots on a tank. Yes I know my gun (lx) isnt tuned for max effeciency. But the biggest thing is that with the paint and barrel match I had I should have been able to get well over 1000 shots.

Now, I am starting to tweak my lx a little more and I am using a stock emag barrel and blaze paint 4000 rnds and 2 broken balls in sub 20* weather. I have all alongthought about only using the LCX through the winter andgoing back to Level 7 when it warms back up.

Some hints :

Keep the number of fittings on your gun to a min, less chance is a leak

Use a barrel with little to no porting ( Stock Emag/RT ) or lapco

Use the smallest spring you can get away with on the LX. If your shoooting a hard paint no need to have it stop on a dollar.

i've never had a problem with this. i have my lx micro emag and can get 1500 rounds on my 88 4500 pre-set java tank with no problems, of course i'm not really a back player and only fil my redz 3.2 with 3 tubes at most no matter what(even at scenario games) and my lx has excellent efficiency, but its also not set very light, i don't think its that big of a deal, before i could prob get about 1700 or 1800 shots before it would refuse to fire, but the 200-300 rounds i'm not getting doesn't really make that big of a difference to me, o well, since u have the gz now u might as well stick with that, but i would say just suck it up and deal with it.
