I love the twist-lock idea!! Most companies do not want to make the 'mag barrel because of extra machining!! As for me, is one barrel company does not want to make 'mag barrels, I'll take my business to a company that will, it's that simple!!!
    E-Mag's on a diet
    Stay tuned for Pics!!!

        Remember 2 things.

        1. Twist lock barrels are the most expensive type to make (Other than Nova Barrels, but nobody makes those)

        2. Most Mag owners only own 1 or 2 barrels.

Mag owners are not noted for riding the Fad waves like Angel or Cocker owners, and they don't have the incredible base market of the Spyder Thread. So making the latest and greatest barrel for a Mag isn't going to happen unless you absolutely know your name is going to get you sales (And Thus you Have Mag Freak Kits). If you are Smart parts or J&J you have nothing to worry about, if you are anybody else you just don't have enough guaranteed sales to justify the cost in milling and design to make Twist-Lock barrels.

sounds good in theory, but guess what happens when we try to universalize things, such as a world currency or language.

15 mins for the twist are up, I've had acouple of times where my feed has been cut off by it slipping (always during tourneys).
Besides I'm all for standardizing barrel threada. That means we all save money because we can use the same barrels on different markers.

THAT is why there will never be a standard barrel thread! Thanks for getting it out of me. That exact point was in my brain, I just could articulate it! You da'man!

standard threads seems to be happening with this whole move towards cocker threads.

But I like how the ball is dropped directly into the barrel and there is no transition from gun to barrel for the paintball to go through. The barrel has many more chances to mess up the paintball if the paintball has to travel into the barrel, if its not aligned properly it might make the paintball swerve a little bit and not be accurate as it could be if it started in the barrel. Are all new mags cocker threaded? I didnt know this if they were

All the new Mag bodies are cocker threaded, old-style bodies are Twist-Lock.

As to the great barrel thread debate, anybody want to bet that teh new SP Nerve uses a new Thread style? (Likely a Shocker thread with different thread-barrel back spacing, like the Impy uses)

angel/cocker/spider/shocker/etc. threads can all be made
with absolutely no change to the cnc lathe set-up
infact they could mix production on the same run.
the tools are all the same including the threading insert

Tippmann barrels require a differant threading insert and
several more threading passes (cocker etc. threads probably
take at most 4) that means more time in production.
actually tippmann buyers are being ripped off having
to spend the same as twist lock mag barrels

Mag barrels require either live tooling (drilling and milling heads)
on the lathe or a seperate machining center
with 4th axis none of this is cheap. If a company allready
has the capacity than making mag barrels isn't that big a
deal they would just need about a days worth of production
                      to make it profitable/affordable.
If they need to buy 4th axis capability just for mag barrels
that is a LOT of barrels.

Of course looking at their (EVIL) barrels I'd say they have
                      live tooling on their lathes.

So every new body is being made with cocker threads now? RTPs?
