    I think my method of using a dull rock edge works best.

      I just use a utility knife to cut the macro. If you need more force, put the knife on where you need to cut and hit it with a hammer or something to push it down through the macroline and make a clean cut. The cleaner the cut, the less likely of a chance it will leak when you insert it into the macroline connector. If it is a uneven cut, it won't seat right and you will have leaks.
