AO: We are back from the dead... again! After an 18 day outage, we are finally alive and well. Who knew how complicated updating software/databases from 2008 would be. I still have alot of tweaks to make, but my main goal was getting everything patched and updated to 2026.
Vbulletin 6 has changed alot since 2008 so we will have a ton of new features to dig into.
Ao Patch Designs - Give Us Your Comments/suggestions
*looks at Ninja B0Y curiously* um... mind if I ask what making AO Embroiderd Patches have to do with signatures?
Also, what about a Silver or white border around the one patch, the gold seems to be too distracting from the patch to me. the silver/white would still break it up, and frame it a little better IMO. As for a red patch, ive been meaning to do one, along with an olive drab type patch for use on rec game attire and such... yellow wouldnt be good to have on a rec game attire.
I wear my yellow and orange flame jersey in rec games! Even in the woods! Although I suppose I prolly stick out real good, I gotta be sportin' my favorite jersey!
I would have to vote 1 or 2. Both are good (I needed to bold that so people would see it better. Some folks on here have a habbit of skipping over things I post to read only the parts they want to complain about), and I would probably run both and not change a thing on the design(When I first typed this my finger slipped and I typed "thong". LOL That would have changed my meaning just a bit, wouldn't it? ). That way people had a choice that would better match their team colors or jerseys.
You also did not mention how large these patches were going to be? I ask this because I know how much it costs to run these things and $7.00 is a bit high (unless you are aiming to make 100%+ profit on each patch, OR are using some company that is charging you much higher prices than is Industry Standard.). And actually if you ran 500 or more you should be able to get a MUCH better deal on the cost.
I am not saying this to cause a problem. Feel free to do a simple search online for companies that make custom patches and do the math yourself. You will see that you should not have to pay more than $1 to $2 per patch depending on the % of embroidery, and no more than $3 to $4 on FULL (but from your design it looks about 50%, which would make each patch no more than roughly $2 each to produce at 100-150 and less than $1 for 500 or more). And those prices are AVERAGE and for 100-150 count (3inch or larger patch).
If you went for 500 the prices drop in half (meaning you can get DOUBLE the patches for the same price). This being the case, it does not make sense to run half the number of patches at about the same total cost as the larger run. And in either case, you should still be able to easily drop at least $2 off the end price of each patch and still make a decent profit. Heck, even if you droped $3 off (making each patch only $4), you would still be making right at 100% profit on a 100 patch run, and 250-300% on a 500 patch run... still not bad on your end.
As it is, for 2 it will be $14, if you were to drop only $2 off each patch it brings it down to $10 for 2 (only $3 more than your original cost for ONE) I would bet you would actually sell MORE patches that way... meaning more profits, and allowing you to reinvest back into the patches for a second or third run while still keeping some money for yourself.
I don't know who you are using to run these patches, but unless they are within the numbers I posted above, you may want to do some shopping. And if they ARE the same... The $7 price is a bit high for a product that is suppose to benefit AO considering the actual production cost.
I hope this helps in some way. It is NOT intended to start a war, but to point out Industry prices, and hopefully reduce overall costs for ALL AO Members including those making the patches. This would be a GOOD thing.
(added note: Prices listed above were average for 3 inch to 3 1/2 inch patches which would be plenty large enough.)
