A Mock Barrel Break..........

How should I go about MAKING a barrel break? I'm doing a review and i need to know what would be a good way to artificially create a barrel break without shooting tons of paint until one does ;P

It must be just like a real barrel break, shells n all.

Ummm.....Do a drop test on a bag of paint.

Let's say the average ball breaks in 6 bounces. Bounce 10 balls 5 times, all the ones that aren't broken you shoot, 1 of em will probably break in the barrel.

That seems more realistic than sticking something in the barrel, because you do not know where the ball will bust. Could be at the bolt, in the middle, where it hits the ports, at the end, seems more realistic.

While it wont happen in 1 ball, wasting 10 or 15 is better than wasting 100.

Use a razor blade and cut about a 1 cm slit in the ball and face that part towards the bolt. Either that or use a ridiculously small insert or back for larger paint (if you have a multiple bore system.)

see i think cutting the paintball wouldn't leave much shell behind.

I might give the drop test -1 a try to see what happens.

Try putting a pin, or something small and round in one of the ports.

i was thinking that but i didn't want to damage the finish on my barrel in anyway.

if i did that that port would get knicked,scratched, dented whatever....and if the pin broke off or bent ina way it could scratch up the inside of the barrel as well

Use something strong, it won't break, it is just a paintball after all. But you do risk chipping the anno on the port, just do it in one of the ones in the bottom.

Get a bunch of balls that are too big for your barrel and kind of turn up the velocity.

Shoot the gun with the barrel plug on it pointed at the ground a few times.


A realistic way would be buy a small bag or what not of that walmart brand or brass eagle paint. Leave it out over night (open the bag and let it sit in full contact with the air...also this only works if it is not humid out) to lower the bounce test one group. Repeat until you have really fragile paint. Now increase your velocity to a high amount (so it shoots very hot). This should create too much acceleration on the fragile balls and blow them apart in the barrel.


If you have your own paint that is tournament quality or fragile then that will also work.

If it's a mag, get a barrel nubbin and have it sit in to far into the barrel. Or break the tip of it. Always shreds paint either way

Any kind of multi bore barrel, use to small of an insert for a larger paint. Or you could take the oring out that holds the insert(i know that's how it is on the freak, not sure about others) and just put the insert in there.
