my friend just thought about this, what if someone with an extreamly high speed video camera desided to film a piranna with one of those clear plastic barrels beinbg fired. we could see if the paintball was still round or miss shapen and if one cut in the barrel we could watch it go spat all over the barrel. just a crazy though, dont know if this would actualy do anything to help paintball R&D teams or anything usfull would come out of it at all.

Sorry to break it to you, sampson.. but yeah, Tom uses that component which so many paintball companies forget to use.. what's it called? oh yeah, science. He's one smart guy, whatever you think of, he probably has considered already and dismissed years ago.
The rest of the companies use the magic elves to propel "low pressure" guns shoot farther, with flatter trajectory, more accuracy.. I think WGP and WDP are gettin ready to come out with new bolts which carry within them heat seeking magical elves, time released to come out with each ball.***************************************

zads - thats funny, last time I checked the autococker and angel are both VERY complicated guns. I'd like to see you create an electronic gun that works so well as the cocker, or a pneumatic gun as that works and is as complicated as a cocker. Atleast they arn't trying to make a delrin bolt that gets eatten after 3 days of play that only contacts a spring in the first place.
Oh thats right, the idiots that make the sandridge have no clue what they're doing too huh? I mean, they only make a cocker that DOESN'T chop, they made an electronic cocker that WORKS, and anti-chop eye that WORKS, and now look where everything is going. Hmmmm.. now everyone including tom is getting in on the anti-chop eye technology. Then again, i guess those guys at sandridge are morons since they didn't make an electronic mag.... WDP should have just based the Angel on a mag with an electronic grip frame, so they could be cool and have the gun moses blessed.~Chaos

chaos, that's funny.. maybe you have read the wrong post, but maybe you should read my post. your reply doesn't have much to do with what i am saying.
not to diss on autocockers, hell i love them. but sure i suppose the autococker took some brainstorming or whatever to make work, but what real science or research went into making it? very little, if i understand correctly.
perhaps someday i will make a marker, but all i am saying is that there is too much hype surrounding all these paintball myths, which often justify buying $xxx amount of add-ons, you know the story.
when did i ever mention sandridge..?***************************************

The design of the mag is not the best, nor is the best based on SCIENCE. It is however a design as all others are based on compromise. AGD has stated in the past that they could make a gun that will never chop but they want to leave an upgrade path for all their customers. I salute them for this and they are one of the few companies in paintball that do this. I agree that the work of AGD may incorporate more science as such and their employees probably do have a better technical understanding but how do you reconcile this with the fact that almost all winning tournament teams shoot angels?
Angels are good cockers are good and so are E mags.
I don't think WDP or WGP make stupid claims that is the province of barrel manufacturers, Smart parts and brass eagle.Bad Dave - Enigma UK

Not sure how you ment that, but it sounds to me as you're saying that no one else uses science except Tom because he's so smart. If there is a possibility of anything else, he's already done it, because he is perfect. All the other companies in paintball just invent things off of luck, and their guns are all hype.
Now, I went into sandridge because the F5 is based off the cocker. Since you said WGP are morons, I was getting into the design of the cocker, and its capabilities. Yes there is some hype with the angel and cocker, but they are also damn nice guns. My friend has owned countless amounts of angels, and I've never seen a single one of them break down or anything. The cocker and angel are both beautiful guns, and there is some hype, but like most things, there is a reason for the hype.~Chaos

Chaos!!!
Chaos i'm with you on this one. The cocker and angel are very very well made and well thoughtout. How can you say that WDP, WGP, Diablo, and any company fot that matter hasnt use science or pure knowledge to create a marker. WDP has one of the most complicated and intricate in the world, and my team-mates still have theres working every time out. The cockers on my team, I have watched theres go through water, mud, sand everything and still work. Something must be right there. My rt and mag work. They are all well made guns. But look at the schematics of a cocker and then of a mag. Look at an angels(if it doesnt make you dizzy)then look at a mags. Those are in my eyes the best pnuematic and electro guns out there. Has Toms clear barrel and camera's proved something, Of course, but has that helped him create a better gun or even barrel out of it. NO!!!! Tom is a very smart man and his clear barrel and camera's have proved alot but havent revolutionized anything. IMOwww.teamrhythm.net

I think the reason the clear barrel had little impact on the sport, is that it proved that the then-current crop of "barrel snake oil" didn't work.
It proved that the ball didn't distort during acceleration.
Rifling didn't make the ball more accurate or fly farther.
Porting didn't make the ball more accurate or fly farther.
Long barrels didn't make the ball more accurate or fly farther.
Spinning the barrel didn't help any.
Tom even made perfectly spherical paintballs... they didn't help... little tiny dimples on the outside? didn't help.
As Thomas Edison once said, It wasn't as much a case of failure, it was finding a thousand things that didn't work.
I would say that AGD rather forced the rest of the industry to become much more science based and less snake-oil based.Shaun Nelson --- old, fat, slow.... did I mention lazy? I ate all the pies
