dear fellow front players, according to my friend we should all be using 14 inch(if not longer) barrels. we all have seen the thread from tom on effective barrel lengths, on efficiency, that the effective length is only to the 1st port, or to the 1st step. now he says that anything shorter than 14 inchs isn't accurate enough for front players...here i am thinking that my 12in barrel is too long, and on the distances i'm shooting at oponents, i notice no accuracy differnce between an 8 in barrel, and my 12in. am i the only 1 who thinks he's an idiot for telling me to put a longer barrel for better accuracy when i'm accurate enough w/ an 8in barrel? i just would rather get in that extra 6 inches then "waste" it on "accuracy" that i don't need, most of my shots are taken with in 30 yards, tops.
don't you hate idiots?

Well a 14 inch barrel is good for playing on an Airball field so you can push your bunker in with your barrel allowing you to play tighter.
But if your not playing on an airball field I would say the longest front players should use is a 12 inch barrel tops. I prefer a 10" barrel myself. Really back players shouldn't even be using 14 inch barrels, I would say 12" for them too.

never said you couldn't use a long barrel, i just said that it seemed kinda silly to put a longer barrel on my mag when it's actually better in my case for a shortyOriginally posted by agdemagman69

I don't see a difference in accuracy, but I do see a difference in range. They probably just don't see the difference. You shouldn't care what other people think, don't change your views when someone explains things with physics, just learn through experience. I don't really care what Tom says about barrels. From my experience I do find a use for longer barrels but not for accuracy, for range.

Yes, I do "despise" idiots.
Well, anyways, I recommend a 12" barrel. In my opinion, 14" is a little too long. Also I think that that extra 2 inches is just a waste of space and added weight.Someone took away my cool sig. *cough*mod*cough*
